Hi

I'm looking for some advice really...I'll give a brief history: DD was born 6 yrs ago after a clomid induced pg. Fell pregnant on 1st cycle, after ttc for 4 yrs. This time round we have been ttc 5.5 yrs, and 8 cycles of clomid have not been successful. I have 2 cycles left, and know my Consultant will not give any more..hospital policy to only give 11 cycles in total.

Basically my question is..are there any herbal/natural remedies that i can look into which may give a similar result to clomid. My infertility is due to PCOS and has never really affected me until this yr...7 of my friends are pg with babies all due around the same time and I feel like my time is running out (I'm 33 next wk)

I definitely cannot afford IVF so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

:)

Hi there, so sorry to hear that you are having trouble conceiving - I do sympathise as I had trouble conceiving my 2 dds and have had 2 miscarriages too. We did finally manage to conceive with the help of the lovely people at foresight. I do really believe that it was thanks to their programme that we conceived, and also the stress relief at being able to take some control was amazing. Best of luck. x

Hi there
I found the fertility plan book useful - avail on Amazon. I've had two mc and still not pg, but it makes a lot of sense in my view. I don't have pcos but it mentions it throughout.

Wishing you well on your journey Smile

Many hospitals usually use clomid for a max of six months after which other treatments should be tried. Clomid resistance can happen in some PCOS patients and in any event clomid should be used with caution in such women. You should also be monitored closely whilst on it too preferably with both blood tests and ultrasounds (clomid can increase levels of LH and inpede fertilisation).

At nearly 33 its not too late for you by any means but I'd now be having words with the hospital if you have not already done so. Is there a Plan B here in terms of other treatment like for instance injectible drugs or ovarian diathermy surgery?. Both these can have good outcomes for PCOS patients and either one or both of these should be discussed with you at greater length. IVF for PCOS patients is not normally recommended due to risk of ovarian hyperstimulation and should only be tried after all other treatment options have failed.

Would not bother with using anything herbal now at this stage in the proceedings as it won't likely help you to conceive.

Verity's website www.verity-pcos.org.uk may be worth you looking at.
