PCOS - Going out of my mind!!

Hiya ladies I dont know where to post this but I am going out of my mind!

I haven't had a period since the end of March and DH and I are TTC#2. After months and months of going to see my GP I was referred to a gynae who said i could have PCOS. The consultant sent me for an ultrasound which didnt show any cysts on my ovaries and blood work came back ok, albeit on of the hormone tests was borderline but my GP doesn't believe this is in line with PCOS. The consultant prescribed me Norethisterone which I took 3 times a day for 7 days and it resulted in a withdrawal bleed on 23rd Sept which lasted for 5 days. I am now on CD39 with no bleed and negative tests but I am experiencing cramps on and off now for about a week and it's really starting to bring me down. Over the past 3 months I have gained a lot of weight even though my diet hasn't changed any so this is also making me feel a bit depressed.
I also has a subtotal thyriodectomy last November as I had a massive cyst growing on my thyroid.

I was wondering if anyone else out there has experienced anything similar? I don't see the gynae consultant again until January and not sure if I can cope with this much longer :( Should I request to referred for assisted conception?

laura I was scanning your post looking for thyroid and then bang it was there. What are your TSH levels? I do believe that thyroid probs can stop you ovulating so you may need some help with help?

ask for the referral

and ask to get your thyroid levels checked

are you on thyroxine ?

hiya guys thanks for replying i had my thyroid levels checked last month and all the GP told me was they were normal they never give me the actual TSH levels. I'm not on Thyroxine as the GP said the half thyroid left is working normally. Even when I had a massive cyst (the cyst took up the whole left lobe of the thyroid) the GP said my thyroid readings were normal. I have booked an appointment with the doc on friday so will ask for another blood test...this is just driving me mad and im getting fobbed of by the gp it makes things worse :(

laura I would definitely ask for a copy of your results and the actual number.

The consultant I am seeing for miscarriages/fertility issues has told me that although the normal ranges for TSH is anything under 5, in the USA they see anything over 3 as a problem and treat it and he likes to see it below 2 for fertility purposes. The TSH used to be 10 a few years ago so you can see how the ranges are a moveable feat!

GPs can be great but they are not specialists and I would see them as a gate keeper to the specialists. Which one of your hormoes was borderline do you know?
I would get a copy of all your test results and educate yourself on the results or [post them here. Sadly, I have found that one needs to be in charge of this whole process because the 'experts' often miss something.
