Possible Drought in North West England - Why Wait to Impose Hosepipe Ban?

I thought hosepipes were generally considered a terrible waste of water anyway. Does anyone else try to conserve water use whether there is news of a drought or not?

Please add your ideas for saving water here!

Is it necessary to flush the loo if you've only had a pee?

i think more is wasted from burst pipes that arent fixed!

Getting a water meter made me more conscious of usage and I think they should be standard. Water-butts attached to down-pipes is a good way to make the most of rainwater. And don't hosepipe the lawn people....total waste of time.

I think hose pipes get the blame for a lot of water use when its not them. I'm using mine quite a bit at the moment but watering veg plants and using a nozzle so its only running when its in the right place. I've never bothered on the lawn etc though.

We have a water butt as the hose doesn't reach the whole garden but its empty now as we've not had rain for weeks.

We tend to leave the loo for pee & we all have showers/use washing machine on eco-cycle/use dishwasher full to the brim.

We had the paddling pool out last weekend and I used that for the plants too, bloody hard work though!
