Feeling very sad for everyone involved in what's going on. My thoughts and Prayers are with everyone there tonight. We've booked to go camping there tomorrow for the weekend, me DH and 2 DS's (5 and 2). But I'm not sure I want to go now, the atmosphere will be very sad I'm sure. I think we should still go, but feeling quite sick at it all. can't even begin to imagine what they are all going through right now.

WWYD? Would you still go?

I would still go. It won't help anyone staying away.

ClaireDeLoon · 02/06/2010 18:29

I would still go, but I would ring the campsite and make sure there aren't any closed roads that may stop you getting there for example.

RedOnHerHead · 02/06/2010 18:32

Yes I think we should too. But such an awful thing. |I know its different circumstances, but a few years back I was held at knifepoint. Brings it all back. Can't stop this feeling in my stomach. Please don't let them find anyone else.

The police have stressed that the area is "very much open for business and open for tourism", so I doubt anybody wants the area to suffer more by losing all their trade.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 02/06/2010 18:42

I would go - the area will suffer economically if everyone stays away.

nymphadora · 02/06/2010 18:46

Where are you going? If anywhere is closed off its only going to be small areas and Cumbria is a huge county.

RedOnHerHead · 02/06/2010 18:55

We'll be staying 10miles away from Boot. We will go. Thanks everyone for your advice. It's just something that's quite distressing for me after what happened. I will take all of your love with me when we go.

We are going on Sunday for a week and didn't think of changing our plans.

Its a tough call, its obviously deeply traumatic event and it will be hard to get away from it so soon afterwards. There will still be a lot of media about. If it is bringing back traumatic events from your past it won't be a very enjoyable break for you. I'm with Dittany, if you go, do take care of yourself. If it feels too much don't be afraid to go somewhere else, there are plenty of other campsites about.

bubblerock · 02/06/2010 22:35

I don't think I would go tbh only because it is so close to where it happened and would be very hard to have a good holiday right now under the circumstances, if it were a month away then fine (and I understand they need the tourism) but it's going to be way to raw yet. Can you go somewhere else and return to Cumbria at another time?

Plenty of other places in cumbria to go

bentneckwine1 · 02/06/2010 23:31

I would ring the campsite...they might be closed. If it is so close to where it happened then the owners might have friends/relatives caught up in the incident.

Apart from anything the area is going to be heaving with media and police. The practicalties of that alone might restrict your access to what you planned to do.

Take Care
