okaaaaay

BertieBotts · 16/05/2010 22:23

Why is this in "In the News" ?

FuckingNinkyNonk · 16/05/2010 22:28

this OP makes no sense sorry. What teeth rotting sugar are you talking about? With ds I used pictures of mice!?

differentnameforthis · 16/05/2010 22:34

I can't find the article now, but I think the OP is referring to the one I saw...it said that sugar helps the pain of immunisations.

But yes, a little more info in the OP would be good.

LaDiDaDi · 16/05/2010 22:35

It works for mine too. I think it would be obvious to anyone who's bf.

If not bf then why not try sugar or a ff if baby will take it.

Hardly rocket science or news.

differentnameforthis · 16/05/2010 22:36

Found it

BertieBotts · 16/05/2010 22:56

Oh - I didn't realise this was new? I thought they used sugar water filled dummies in the US when they circumcised babies? ()

Either way, sugar (chocolate buttons) or breastmilk, neither had any effect on my DS, he always screamed so much that he couldn't latch on, poor thing

Nurse at the new doctors' since we have moved is lovely though, she puts cartoons on via youtube or iplayer for them to watch and be distracted. Still didn't work on DS but a nice idea, I thought

Excellent point Imarried, my dd was FF. I was given this advice nine years ago when dd was getting her first vaccs. It didn't work.

gobsmackedetal · 17/05/2010 19:03

worked with both of mine, one ff, one bf, both fed during vac and there wasn't too much fuss as they were too busy trying to get back to the food.
Milk though does contain a lot of sugar, which could be the reason it helps them deal with the pain. I think the article was working on scientific findings about sugar levels in the blood and also that the op is very angry

WorzselMummage · 17/05/2010 19:08

They routinly give premature babies sugar solution before procedures.

have you tried breastfeeding a 2lb baby while it's having it's imms katela ?

No?

Thought not.

scaryteacher · 18/05/2010 13:54

And what about when they having their boosters at 15? I'm not bfing my ds when that happens next year.

mumblechum · 18/05/2010 14:03

I seriously doubt that 5ml of sugar solution is going to rot their teeth.

WorzselMummage · 18/05/2010 14:23

Most babies haven't sprouted teeth when they have their immunisations anyway.

Before sugar solution was used as pain relief paracamol was used. Of course it's do much better to pump babies full of aspartame etc etc
