Who says the youth of today are apathetic?

lol at "I'd never speak to the Sun," he said firmly, "I'm a Guardian reader." !!!

EnchantedWithGordon · 07/05/2010 19:59

He sounds adorable

Another big erm, well fuck up in them sending a 14 yr old a polling card though!

PandaG · 07/05/2010 20:02

fabulous!

I've been amazed by how interested my DC have been - DD (8) came home from school and logged straight on to the Newsround website to find out what had happened! She also wailed last night when DH couldn't take her to the polling booth - she wanted to see what happened.

Hope they are both as keen to vote at 18 !

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 07/05/2010 20:03

He sounds great but I can't believe the school were going to allow him to talk to the Sun during school hours and without his parents permission.

AlfieMcK · 07/05/2010 20:56

Hello, the school weren't going to allow me to talk to the sun. They advised me not too .

I'm glad people are supporting me, I saw on some earlier reports when I was the mystery 14 year old that people thought I was an ignorant "Daredevil" trying to be hip..

Not the case!

I just have a keen interest in equality within society, I hope in future elections people will get some moral bolster when they vote.

LynetteScavo · 07/05/2010 21:04

Go Alfie! Great article...I especially like the bit socialist estate agent bit!

alfie, I hope this has taught you never to confide in teachers...they really are not on your side!

bluebump · 07/05/2010 21:06

We had a 6 year old in our town get sent a voting card according to our local paper but somehow I think they may have spotted that he wasn't old enough when he went to vote too!

EnchantedWithGordon · 07/05/2010 21:32

Alfie, did you have any clue that you would get in trouble for voting? Did you know that it was something you shouldn't have been able to do?

AlfieMcK · 07/05/2010 21:59

Haha! I'm completely responsible for my own actions and I wouldn't be so deceitful as to claim ignorance. I knew the implications, but my passion is too strong not to take up that golden opportunity.

I believe that whether we are poor, middle ground or rich, we have a moral obligation to work together and to ensure equality and freedom within society. Conservatism pisses on that; I was happy to have a helping hand in Ben Wallace's disappointing show.

lou031205 · 07/05/2010 22:24

Did your vote not get disallowed, AlfieMcK?? I would have thought they would have a duty to exclude it from the pile.

ja9 · 07/05/2010 22:45

How many 14yo have a trench coat?

EnchantedWithGordon · 08/05/2010 10:46

You don't sound 14. You sound like an MP.

WE may have a moral obligation to to ensure equality and freedom, but we also have a moral obligation to not break the law and the law states you shouldn't vote untill 18.

Strange as you sound like an intelligent child yet you still knowlingly broke the law.

juneybean · 08/05/2010 10:50

ja9 you'd be surprised...

mayorquimby · 08/05/2010 18:45

Deserved a bollocking for breaking the law. If you do have such a keen interest and respect for democracy and politics surely you'd respect the process.

campion · 09/05/2010 15:03

Sounds like his parents actively supported him as the polling card would have arrived with everyone else's.

If you want to be an MP best not to go around breaking the law.

Thediaryofanobody · 09/05/2010 15:04

PMSL at "I never talk to the sun"

TheJollyPirate · 10/05/2010 07:04

More here

He wore a trench coat and sunglasses so that the polling staff wouldn't suspect him.

His parents advised him NOT to use the polling card but he went ahead anyway. Voted LibDem apparently.

PrettyCandles · 10/05/2010 07:15

I admire his spirit, but not his common sense!

llareggub · 10/05/2010 07:17

His parents must have mistakenly listed him on the form supplied by the council, surely?

deaddei · 10/05/2010 13:09

Sounds like a delightful boy
Bet his teachers love him.
