Next time, how about everyone using their wits before working themselves up into a pants-shitting frenzy about a story that sounds thoroughly dubious in the first place.

OP posts:
TheCrackFox · 02/04/2010 16:32

Why let the facts get in the way of a good story?

Alambil · 02/04/2010 16:32

I think I missed that... what were they supposed to have done?

Malkuth · 02/04/2010 16:59

Here. Poor woman.

BecauseImWoeufIt · 02/04/2010 17:04

Hear, hear SGB.

BuzzingNoise · 02/04/2010 17:12

Poor woman. I hope the nasty bitches who made it up get punished.

MillyMollyMoo · 02/04/2010 17:46

She was found not guilty .... not always the same thing.
Will be interesting to see whether the witness's are prosecuted for both perjury and wasting police time or if the matter is quietly dropped on the basis they weren't lying but justice wasn't done.
We'll never know will we.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 02/04/2010 17:48
Hmm
VengefulKitty · 02/04/2010 18:11

I am not sure. Like MillyMollyMo says - she was found not guilty.

Maybe it is just me, and I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong, but I find it difficult to believe that it got this far over nothing but her sexuality.

one person making allegations, fair enough, but for 'many'? I think something went on that we haven't been told.

TinaSparkles · 02/04/2010 18:18

I think two people, nursery workers not long out there teens, collaborated on the story, which is why it was brought to court.

Sad anyway that this came about by those entrusted in the care of babies.

MillyMollyMoo · 02/04/2010 18:26

I think two teens going all the way to crown court and sticking to the same story out of malice over somebody's sexuality are quite dangerous so why has the judge not taught them a lesson and made an example of them ?

I am also not naive enough to believe that every person in prison is guilty or every person acquitted is innocent.

smallorange · 02/04/2010 18:38

Well that's her career over anyway.

jeee · 02/04/2010 18:40

I feel sorry for her - I happen to believe in the notion of innocent until proven guilty, but know that I would never allow her near my children, which is a bit hypocritical.

DaisymooSteiner · 02/04/2010 18:44

"why has the judge not taught them a lesson and made an example of them"

Because it's not up to the judge to do that, it's up to the CPS to decide whether there is sufficient evidence to charge them.

MillyMollyMoo · 02/04/2010 18:48

No it's not actually it's down to the judge there and then, having been in court when my brothers girlfriend was immediately sentenced for lying under oath I can report it's entirely up to the judge it's his court.

activate · 02/04/2010 18:51

Well it's obvious to me that MillyMollyMoo is a drug taker and VengefulKitty is responsible for the death of various pets around here

take me to court - have yourselves found "not guilty" and then see how you both feel when people do the "no smoke without fire" crap

It is our justice system - not guilty equates to innocent

VengefulKitty · 02/04/2010 19:19

Oh that is bollocks activate and you know it.

Cases do not get to court via hearsay. The CPS had to believe they have a good chance of winning.

Also, if it was trial by jury, the jury would be instructed to find her guilty only if they believe the the case has been proved beyond reasonable doubt.

I am not saying she did do everything, or even anything that was alleged, but surely it would not have gone to court if it was just malicious lies.

As well as there being some innocent people convicted of crimes, there are countless more that walk free from a crime they did commit.

activate · 02/04/2010 19:30

you do not have the right to stand in vengeful judgement because you have a read a couple of snippets of newsprint about a case

VengefulKitty · 02/04/2010 19:38

I never claimed to have the right to stand in judgement. I just said you were talking bollocks.

As if you would get a case to court on a ridiculous accusation!

AnzoneioBanderas · 02/04/2010 19:39

i dont knwo why SGB comes on here as she obviously finds almost every thread annoying!

bronze · 02/04/2010 19:41

Well I feel bad
but I also hope that if she is innocent that the people who caused all this get whats their due. Otherwise she will always get no smoke without fire

activate · 02/04/2010 19:41

"As if you would get a case to court on a ridiculous accusation! "

we have a presumed innocent basis to our judicial system

and very odd cases get to court

we also have a mendacious media

and generations of daily-mail reading idiots

and a zebra (inserts a bit of surreality into dull conversation)

onagar · 02/04/2010 19:51

MillyMollyMoo and VengefulKitty the point is that if you're always going to say "oh well there must have been something in it" then we may as well just abandon the whole justice system.

Think how you would feel if you had been falsely accused and finally walking out of court. Would you want your neighbours saying "oh well there's no smoke without fire" etc

daftpunk · 02/04/2010 19:53

Assume sgb you are against the death penalty, and I will assume that one of your reasons would be that innocent people are sometimes found guilty..(how many people have been released on appeal after fresh evidence etc, over the years..?)...

So, if innocent people can be found guilty..it doesn't need alot of working out that guilty people can be found innocent...

activate · 02/04/2010 19:56

trial by media
trial by idiot

synonyms?

TheDailyWail · 02/04/2010 20:00

I'm undecided about the guilt/innocence of this nursery worker but I wouldn't want her colleagues to work in my childs nursery because they either

a. didn't speak out about cruelty to children for years and were derelict in their duty
or
b. nasty and spiteful to their colleague.
