It was horrendous weather though, I live in West Lothian and on Tuesday night I left work just after 9pm and got home at 11:38.

I'm usually home between 9:15-9:20.

Yet towns not that far away have been practically untouched.

Maybe they thought it was just localised because of it. Regardless it was so insensitive of the media to constant harp on about it, showing live pictures of the bus. Way to go in allowing the parents of that girl some time to begin their grief in losing a child.

This is a horrible accident but I don't think anyone is to blame for the decision to continue. You can make that decision over and over again without this type of tragedy. As well as the family of the girl I really feel for the teachers involved - it must be terrible to face this sort of event.

I remember going on a school trip to London in sixth form on a snowy day. My normally ultra cautious mother took me to the coach without a second thought as far as I was aware. All went well till we arrived back in our town that night - and took 40 minutes to descend about 500metres of road down the hill in to the town - it was covered in black ice. We got home ok though.

I feel really bad for the teachers too Northern. When we were talking about the trip a few weeks ago I jokingly said that you couldn't pay me enough to go on a trip with 40 hormonal teenagers!

We all love our children to have the opportunity to go on school trips, it's great that teachers want to go over and above the call of duty to organise them. Most of my happiest memories of school involve trips. The school has already cancelled another planned trip. and I'd be surprised if they get anyone volunteering to organise any more after the treatment they've had from the press "asking the questions that all of the parents want to know".

Sorry for my ranting by the way! I'm normally very mild mannered (honest!), but the press coverage has made my blood boil...

So sad. Today its sunny and blue skies, the snow and high winds of a couple of days ago are gone - seems like an extra kick in the teeth for family of poor Natasha.
