I thought from the thread this was a new case (and surprised there weren't more details).

In fact this was a case that was in the news alot 3 years ago when her father and the other men were on trial and jailed, the police have now gone on to find another man who was involved in the case and he has now been charged

Why Oh why do they keep calling these outrages 'Honour Killings' and not MURDER which is what it is.

This is the most despicable of all murders as it is carried out by your own family. There is absolutely no honour whatsoever in a father, brother or uncle murdering their own flesh and blood. These terrible men do not know the meaning of the word.

They should be put away forever and that should include hard labour. As a treat they could be brought out once a week and put into stocks to have rotten fruit thrown at them.

Honour? Please don't make me laugh.

They really do need to stop calling it "honour killings", it is a complete insult to the victim who was murdered by a controlling arsewipe. Where is the honour?

missmoopy · 20/03/2010 13:19

Riven, I agree. I despise the phrase honour killing as feel it minimises it somehow. It almost as bad as the phrase 'crime of passion'. Murder is murder, and whatever the so called cultural justification used by the perpetrator, I would rather our crminal justice system/media did not propogate the belief that an 'honour killing' is different. It is a family killing a child.

missmoopy · 20/03/2010 13:22

their child, not a child - obviously victims are adults.

JollyPirate · 20/03/2010 13:30

Honour killings is a terrible term. It's actually a part of domestic violence and sadly I bet her murder was not the first time she experienced abuse at the hands of her father. I bet her mother is equally as abused.

Murder is murder - when someone murders their partner who has just left them we don't call it an honour killing do we? No we don't so this isalso murder.

Poor girl - I thought this case was now closed with convictions?
