Here

Still not clear why he died, but horrible circumstances to die alone out on the street.

ANyone who has been on the receiving end of anti-social behavior will empathise with the poor guy.

Horrid circumstances.

Antisocial behaviour is one the things I absolutely hate about this country. They stand out from the crowd in their nastiness and they have zero empathy for anything and anyone.

May he rest in piece.

I've seen some real horrid things in public and even when the arseholes are outnumbers people are too scared to get involved.

I saw this and it seemed that this appalling situation was taken very seriously, but still ended in the horrible way.

I don't know what the answers are, but I know that int area when we had some problems, we made sure that we stood together as neighbours and remained polite but firm with the young people and just stayed with it until they all moved on ( and grew up a bit). I don't think that approach would work here, but I do wonder why people often close their curtains and expect the 'authorities' to sort it out.

It is beyond me what the answers are too.

SO very sad.

I lived in an awful area for a while and it did make life unbearable. The local council and the police did/were able to do very little to help. I was lucky enough to be able to move, but most people do not have that option.

I think we should do more - I'm not talking vigilantes but more often than not a minority make lives hell for the majority in their area - why don't the majority get to gether and back each other up?

My father who was in his 60s at the time was on a croweded tube - young thugs were smoking and flicking ash onto a woman's skirt, she was sitting down. Carriage FULL of adults - noone said anything except my dad. It got nasty - he got off and told the driver who held the train, police came but did zero and left these guys to then follow my dad and then he had an issue.

The carriage was full.

why oh why does this keep happening?
It makes my blood boil.....
sadly I know the answer,.
the police do fuck all.
you ring them and unless you can say "yes I saw x do it" they do nothing.
it is then down to you to prove it was them.
in the meantime the scumbags carry on.

Well I agree with Mckenzie from the scum newspaper on question time tonight, we need to stop calling this sort of crime anti social behaviour, it's not, anti social behaviour is taking a pee in a bush, this is more than that, it's harrassment, it's intimidation, it's thuggery,it's abuse, no 'badge of honour' asbo is going to solve this type of crime.

Two pensioners burned to death in their own home last week and now this on top of all the other deaths reported over the last few years.

How these poor people have suffered.

They used the phrase 'bear-baiting' in the article. It's exactly the same phrase I use for those who taunted and teased my son when he was younger, to try and make him meltdown.

I agree with giveitago... we're 'society' so we have a responsibility individually and collectively to be good members of that society and to insist that our family and other people are as well. Obviously not putting our lives at risk tackling a knife-wielding thug but not adopting the 'none of my business' attitude either. The police can only do so much. Seems that being nasty to this man was treated as sport and he was let down both by the police and the community alike.

I told off a couple of little kids yesterday for breaking tree branches outside my son's school. Got a few odd looks from other parents but if it means those don't end up torching mobility scooters in a few year's time, a few odd looks is worth it.
