Why is there a one minute picture delay broadcasting the Iraq Inquiry?

When it's streamed on News 24 and Sky News?

I'm making a presumption that it's not to screen out all the f-ing and blinding going on

Am I being cynical thinking it might be so the powers that be can stop anything they don't want us to hear?

Any ideas?

sounds entirely reasonable from a national security pov lol. there are 'answers' and there are 'let's endanger some other poor scientist/ troops/ innocent bystander'.

as an inquiry, there's still bound to be loads of 'he said, she said' which is entirely subjective from the speakers viewpoint.

can't get it here, i don't think. is it online too?

It is standard for live broadcasts on TV and radio. It means that technical glitches can sometimes be sorted out to avoid interrupting coverage, and the broadcaster can cut libels, anything subject to an injunction etc etc

The official line, according to the Beeb, is so that national security is not compromised by any of the information given

That's interesting Sassy, is that from the beeb website?

I was wondering whether David Kelly would be discussed at some point, which could bring up things that aren't seen as any of our business
