what the F

sorry but I think persuing this was just so awful. Three year old hits another 3 year old with a car jack when they were left alone in the car.

I do think it's ok to leave kids alone in cars for short periods of time but to persue a case like this seems extreme to me.

Those eyelashes are ridiculous-its as tho she only had one and a half an eye lash and thought what they heck-I can work it.

SparklyGothKat · 13/11/2009 19:12

am shocked by this, sets a dangerous presedent(sp?) for other parents to sue. DS2 lashes out at other kids, he is 2. His preschool and ourselves deal with it, but how long before someone decides that they can make money from this, scary thought...

redsofas · 13/11/2009 22:19

So does this mean I can claim for compensation when urchin number 1 bashes urchin number 2 on the head repeatedly with her train?

This is such a chavtastic story. I am pretty sure the mum has been eating out on this experience since it happened and while I bet that at the time it was bloody horrible and scary, she's doing her son no favours by handling it like this.

But I would say she's been encouraged to do this by legal counsel interested in getting a lot of new clients. Let's face it, a few skanky parents ears will have pricked up on the idea of being able to claim against every day squabbles in the playground.

Meglet · 13/11/2009 22:42

She'll be spending the compensation on more eyelashes

redsofas · 13/11/2009 23:09

i actually used to be friends with someobody once who when we saw somebody's dc slip on a wet patch in the supermarket said "for fuck sake i've been waiting for an opportunity like that for ever" and she was being deadly serious too!!!

gorionine · 14/11/2009 10:20

Redsofas, I know I shouldn't but I am ROFL after reading your post! It is like a scene from a movie I can so picture it in my head!

Apparently the car windscreen was smashed too... That kid must have been super fast because apparently they were left alone for a couple of minutes.
Mum makes me nauseous... poor kid can't forget abo because she keeps encouraging him to tell people. It's almost like a party piece.

Ripeberry · 14/11/2009 11:03

The mum is creepy....glad the little boy is OK and you can tell he's punishing his mum for dragging it all up by scribbling all over the arm of the couch. Sweet

lljkk · 14/11/2009 11:14

Is it possible that the biro was empty of ink so the boy was just making 'lines' in the arm of the sofa -- which might have been cheap a fake leather cast-off?

(Clutching at straws, here).

I HEARD on Radio that the family had actually won the right to sue the family of their attacker -- is that true?

monkeysavingexpertdotcom · 14/11/2009 11:15

Much as I love a nice judging session, I'm not sure the mum's make-up, eyelashes, biro-scribbling child (you must have been looking closely, I didn't notice that) or scouseness have a great deal to do with the case - and snorting about it takes away from the discussion somewhat.

If your child was injured this badly by another child - regardless of age - how would you feel? Would you want any sense that responsibility had been taken by someone? If, say, the child's parents insisted it was an accident or weren't suitably apologetic, wouldn't you then feel frustrated and want someone to "blame", to hold to account? For some, claiming compensation is a way of getting that.

monkeysavingexpertdotcom · 14/11/2009 11:28

killed that one then

cory · 14/11/2009 14:58

See what you mean monkey, but I think we are not making life easier for ourselves by believing that we can always relieve our frustrations by blaming someone. It is going to be very difficult for mankind to live in this world if we can't accept that sometimes accidents happen. Do I blame the rock that my dd fell on? The stairs that ds fell down?

Though in this case, I might have been inclined to blame the woman who left two 3yos unsupervised with a heavy implement to hand.
