My handwriting is appalling.

I now realise that I should never write a letter of condolence to the bereaved as it will be taken as a personal insult.

Would you prefer a handwritten letter (even if in a poor hand) or a beautifully crafted typed one(possibly by someone else)?

I have no desire to offend anyone as I can imagine people have strong feelings in this area, but does anyone else find this strange?

That's a ludicrous story. I'd rather knwo that somebody took the time to write themself. Even if it takes a bit longer to figure out what the words are.

Getting your secretary to type up a letter does not REALLY show that you care in the same way as writing a handwritten letter does.

I reckon she saw what she wanted to see. Having looked at the letter (as reproduced on the Sun website), a) it's really not all that bad and b) I'm not convinced he actually spelled the surname wrong. His writing isn't great but the letter was legible.

She is entitled to feel angry about her son's death and she has the right to have her assertion that his death was avoidable investigated but I really hope she comes to feel shame about what seems like, to me, extremely tacky behaviour.

I don't expect any better of the Sun.
