Scroll down a bit - the Biscuitgate bit

Favourite biscuits usually have chocolate, cream or jam in, don't they? Pre-election biscuits, they're a different kettle of - well - biscuits.

GrimmaTheNome · 20/10/2009 22:59

I think we can be sure its not Gypsy Creams.

Ozziegirly · 21/10/2009 01:11

Surely no one's actual favourite biscuit is a rich tea or an oatcake though? I mean, surely no one is that boring?

If the question was 'which biscuit do you eat most often" then, sure, maybe rich tea, but not favourite?

It's got to be boasters or kit kats or something.

Mine would be tim tam.

hatwoman · 21/10/2009 10:16

I wonder if Dave prefers them fine-milled or rough...

Bleh · 21/10/2009 10:30

Is it just me, or was she trying to blame Biscuitgate on some right-wing conspiracy? IS there a right-wing conspiracy on MN?

I have been thinking about this, and I don't know if I could name my favourite biscuit in such a pressured environment, mostly, because I'm not sure what my favourite is. Also, when the question was posed, I was only thinking of sweet biscuits, but Cameron's answer leans towards the savoury side, so I'm now wondering if savoury biscuits are included as well.

notwavingjustironing · 21/10/2009 10:35

Does that put mini-Cheddars in the running?

hatwoman · 21/10/2009 11:11

cheddars - yes. mini-cheddars - no. imho. (and don;t ask me to justify/rationalise that...)

notwavingjustironing · 21/10/2009 11:13

Tuc biscuits then?

Hassled · 21/10/2009 11:24

Mini Cheddars and Tucs are CRACKERS. If we include them it's a slippery slope to something or other. Not sure what.

notwavingjustironing · 21/10/2009 11:31

Savoury biscuit hell.

overmydeadbody · 21/10/2009 11:45

I snorted with laughter at the humpty dumpty bit actually, especially "without supervision, children would kill eat other for oatcakes". Funny that.

overmydeadbody · 21/10/2009 11:47

If, under pressure, I was asked such a question, I would probably say "something homemade".

Who would choose a rich tea? Of all the things out there?

midnightexpress · 21/10/2009 12:00

NG would probably avoid all choc covered biscuits (not only a bit dark for him, but heavens, we have to get chocolate from them foreign countries).

And Battenburgs way too furrin for him too, our glorious Queen aside of course. Likewise Bourbons, Garibaldis and Nice.

Anzacs would be good because of their military links, but oops, also foreign.

No, he needs a nice ENGLISH biscuit. Which also rules out oatcakes, anything from Tunnocks, and anything shortbread-related.

I feel I'm narrowing things down. And I'm tending towads the custard cream.

Bleh · 21/10/2009 12:05

But then, personally I would include oatcakes in the crackers category, because I think of crackers as "things you eat with cheese on". Are homemade biscuits allowed? Or can you name a particular biscuit incident that has been forged in your memory? (for me it would be the sweet, lemony sesame thing I had at an internal meeting once. It was amazing).
Do macaroons from Paul count?

You see! No wonder GB couldn't answer this question. It's a minefield.

ZephirineDrouhin · 21/10/2009 12:23

Agree it would be the custard cream for Griffin twat.

ZephirineDrouhin · 21/10/2009 12:24

and lol at Gypsy Creams

cherryblossoms · 21/10/2009 12:25

On the + side, folks, anyone remember the thread on "most dangerous biscuit"?

Yes. For it is the humble custard cream. Apparently, it causes more biscuit-related injuries than any other of its crumbly kin.

Every cloud ... .

midnightexpress · 21/10/2009 12:50

Shall we send him some to have with his nice cup of British tea? Oh. hang on a minute. Where's this tea from? Damn.

Iklboo · 21/10/2009 12:54

Nobody mention jaffa cakes

Oh poo.....

GrimmaTheNome · 21/10/2009 13:31

World at One presenters have just dumbed down and named their biccies.

GrimmaTheNome · 21/10/2009 19:22

I've just been reading a thread, OP came here for advice after noticing quite a lot about MN in the press this weekend.

Proof theres no such thing as bad publicity. Press focuses on the trivial but someone still manages to realise MN might be able to help him.

MacaroonIncident · 21/10/2009 19:23

she is right

sixfoldwaitingtime · 21/10/2009 19:26

No she isn't, she's congenitally incapable of being right.

scarletlilybug · 21/10/2009 19:29

DD2 loves oatcakes. Really. Dhe sneaks them out of the tin when I'm not looking. She's only 4.

It really can be a favouirite biscuit. Nit saying that DC's favourite biscuit is an oatcake. But it could be.

scarletlilybug · 21/10/2009 19:30

Sorry - loads of typos above. Should have previewed.
