I can't stop crying, sorry if this story upsets anyone. Why wasn't this woman under care? She had a history for gods sake.

Theres definately a place for it, by nature though, because it involves harm to a child, we all get 'uncomfortable'. Agree with chicagomum on the way it is handled by the media doesnt help, but you just cant not mention it because some people wont like it.

My brother is schizophrenic and I know only too well how ill are people are forgotten about. This has made me wonder what would happen if he found himself a girlfriend and they had a baby, I wonder if anyone would monitor him and his behaviour?
I havent read your thread Louise, sounds awful x

Louise1980 · 11/06/2005 10:35

CC its improving but Im still not receiving much support. People dont want patients who are hard work. thats the whole problem.

charliecat · 11/06/2005 10:41

Yep and only ones who fit the book and tick all the right boxes...sigh

I posted as I suffer with my mental health and thankfully i've been given alot of support. I was angry that this woman had a history of severe mental illness and yet she didn't seem to have any support. I posted the title and an address to the story so people could make up there own minds as to read it or not.

I didn't want a debate on whether it was correct or not to post it.

Louise I really hope you find the right support, hate the fact that where you live dictates the kind of support you receive.

Thank god you posted that in the title or I may have looked at the article which would have made me feel sick. Am pg at the moment, hormonal and teary so I would have felt awful. But I agree, there's nothing wrong with this thread per se - just don't read it if its too traumatic (thats what I'm doing!)

LIZS · 11/06/2005 17:47

Agree it is very sad and sounds as if both mum and baby have been extremely let down but isn't this just the legal conclusion of the story that reported several months ago which was also covered on MN then ? Or is this a different case ?

Shock Shock

Slightly surprised (or am I unsurprised) to see this still in active convos. In order of comments / questions that came up regarding my post

Shalaa - I think if you hadn't wanted to shock and upset other mumsnetters then possibly you could have chosen a less horrendous title for your thread (your title totally gives away the content of the story)

WWB - I think you got what I meant in a nutshell when you said "it just cause upset when people who might not want to read about it, or even know about it, can't avoid this thread title"

Louise1980 - on the contrary that is exactly what mumsnet seems to be for, to talk about issues and at times ask for support and advice. So even though I didn't see your 'I hit my son' thread I hope you got the help you were looking for

Mudd on hindsight I would have changed the thread title and if that option was open to me I would change it now. However, I still would have posted this thread.
