Anyone else out here find the results of this research a little strange?

OK, we will never get the whole picture on a news website but why is it that a woman's education has so much influence on her partner's life expectancy?

I think the argument made in the article, that food choices are the underlying cause, makes sense.

I agree. However, I am suprised that it is the partner's education that seems to matter more. I would have thought that if one were reasonably educated you would be able to make your own choices WRT food, lifestyle etc.

But, ime, in most households the woman does the bulk of the food shopping and cooking. And people are weak, if someone is serving tasty but unhealthy food to you regularly, you'll end up eating some of it.

But wouldn't educated women be more likely to be married/living with educated men? How can you tell who is responsible for this. Correlation is not the same as causation.
