I just wanted to share it with you all - I dont obviously post on mn each time I update my blog to raise my profile or anything but this is truly relevant to us as parents & members of society and I am really proud I managed to pull it off and wanted to share it with you. I think there is some really helpful information here.

Its a new project where I feature a different charity/interview each week. This is week 1 and I feel sick and nervous as anything but really proud too. Hope it helps.

I'm afraid the NSPCC advertising also makes me turn over. This is not because I am fingers in ears and la la la about child abuse - absolutely not - but I resent being blugeoned and guilted into supporting any charity. Similarly that hideous Barnardos one, full of violence, right in your face, night after night on prime time tv.

Otoh I am delighted to sponsor a child in South America through Action Aid and have done for many years. I am not a hardened soul with no empathy for anyone.

I have to say I dont actually watch tv other than cbeebees but I do often stop myself seeing things if I know I wont be able to cope with them.

Disagreeing with a method of advertising though isnt the same as questioning the relevance or overall integrity of a charity. In my interview I pointed out the problem with hard sell tactics because I do relate to it. It just doesnt stop me supporting the NSPCC regardless. But of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the matter!

At any rate I just wanted to pop on to say thanks for reading my interview. I probably wont get too much more involved in a debate on the merits or otherwise of the NSPCC though as it just isnt my focus to do so.
