He has resilience you see. (That's what he says anyway )

I don't hate him, but I do think his leadership is destroying the government and the Labour party.

Blair was just as bad for governing by cabal, but he had charm. I despised him for so many different reasons BUT it's startling to see, in retrospect, what a difference charm makes to the fortunes of a PM.

All those outsiders Brown appointed to his so-called government of all the talents - do you know he barely talked to some of them after the first 'hello, nice to have you on board' conversations? People were emailing him and never getting an acknowledgment, no idea whether he was even reading the darn messages.

mrsruffallo · 05/06/2009 17:30

I agree laura and lyra- this has been largely media led and it's pathetic how all sheep are going along with it

Upwind · 05/06/2009 17:31

spurious ridiculous reasons like "more boom and bust" I suppose?

FabulousBakerGirl · 05/06/2009 17:33

Flint said GB saw her as female window dressing.

I think she has gone in a strop as she hasn't got as cabinet position.

Jux · 05/06/2009 17:36

I think Fling just likes publicity, however she can get it.

He has to go. How on earth can he stay? Rightly or wrongly he is the PM at a time when the government (and politicians in general) are having a complete shocker. He is a symbol of it now. Poor bastard. I don't think any of this is directly his fault, but come on - your whole cabinet is out or on their way out. It's fucked up. Time to step down, had over the Lab leadership to someone else and let's hope and pray they can salvage it before May 2010 and keep David 'paid off his mortgage with tax payer's money' Cameron, the slimey, stand-for-nothing arsehole.

And how on earth Darling is still hanging on in there I do not know...

MrsMattie · 05/06/2009 17:42

should have said 'keep out Cameron'.

EachPeachPearMum · 05/06/2009 17:42

McNulty has gone too btw...

PfftTheMagicDragon · 05/06/2009 17:46

He's not going, he's been waiting forever for this job, he'll stay until he's kicked out.

Jux · 05/06/2009 17:46

OK but we've had a period where we've been screaming for blood; now we've got it. The whole cabinet is out or on their way out, you say MrsMattie. Is that not blood enough?

The ones that have left are the blairites aren't they?

Jux · 05/06/2009 18:03

That Flint letter - is there a better example of girlish pique in the whole of school girl literature? Silly cow.

I think you're right mrsruffallo, but tbh I'm not sure of anything any more

I think Gordon Brown's heart is in the right place but not his head.

donnie · 05/06/2009 18:52

agree with morningpaper. He isn't at the top of the charisma chart but I despise the bunch of self serving Judas Iscariots who have deliberately undermined him- take a bow Hazel(et al) - far more.

mrsruffallo · 05/06/2009 18:56

Hazel B is far more unpopular than GB- quite right that she went

MrsMattie · 05/06/2009 18:57

I have a thing for Milliband. I think he could be a good 'un. And he is standing by Brown, so loyalty bonus points, too. However, I won't bay for Brown's blood. I think it's unfair.

I am saddened by some of the piss poor 'journalism' surrounding this whole hoo-ha, too.

braveandcrazy · 07/06/2009 12:12

If GB goes the chances are there would have to be a general election asap so labour wouldn't have till 2010 to sort themselves out and DC would almost def get in. That's why he can't go just yet. The ones who have decided to stand with him know that they would lose a position in govt and be back in opposition soon enough so they will stick by him and try to build up a campaign to win next year.

ABetaDad · 07/06/2009 12:35

jux - I am afraid I was in your DH's camp. I really thought he would be gone by tomorrow but looking at the political blogs this morning I see Mr Mandelson has been appointed to effectively be deputy PM and is publicly supporting Gordon Brown staying in position.

Nothing will now happen now until the right candidate has been selected to take over as PM in the run up to the election.

Jux · 07/06/2009 18:38

I'm with braveandcrazy, I am sure it serves the Labour Party better in every way to keep Gordon until they lose the election in 2010. I can't see anything to be gained by them for having an earlier election or for choosing a new leader at this stage.

And, anyway, he's the right man for the job, innee?
