How sad.

Wonder how he managed to get on the tracks?

Terrible The BBC says he left the bouncy castle and went onto the track. Probably in a split second, he was with his Dad.

Hulababy · 13/05/2009 18:11

Railings up. Ride operator saw him and hit stop. Parents nearby.

All sounds like a dreadful accident.

Ninkynork · 13/05/2009 18:59

Oh God that is my greatest fear whenever we take DC to a fairground. The tracks on those rides are all to easy and tempting for a runaway small child to climb on. Poor little soul and his parents

ThePellyandMe · 13/05/2009 19:09

OMG. Poor little darling.

So awful for his family, what a tragedy

It only takes a split second doesn't it.

mamadiva · 14/05/2009 08:25

I just saw this this morning and it really does go to show how easily it can happen.

I read some of the comments on some of the papers and the amount of people screaming about the parents is disgusting, maybe we should all just shove reins on our child and wrap them in cooton wool

It's not anyone's fault it's just an horrific accident.

I do hope though that the laws are changed regarding safety, I have never liked the metal railing as they are so flimsy and the gap underneah is far easy enough for a child to sneak through atleast the fairground was doing what was required of them as far as we know.

My thoughts are with everyuone involved in this especially the boys family but also those on the ride and around it.

RIP little man

It is a terrible tragedy. But in terms of safety really no different from a toddler escaping his parents and running into the road. Which is the sort of thing that happens ever so often, but never gets reported in the national press. Roads are not on the whole protected with massive railings.

mamadiva · 14/05/2009 08:48

True Cory but it's not practical to protect roads it is necassary to protect fairground rides.

Although

edam · 14/05/2009 20:31

I know that ride - it always visits our local fair and ds has been on it dozens of times. Never occurred to me an accident like this would happen. Poor mite.

edam · 14/05/2009 20:37

Am a little puzzled though as at our carnival, that ride is always raised off the ground so I don't see how a small child would be able to get onto the tracks. (And it's definitely the same ride.)

ilovesprouts · 17/05/2009 08:58

this is very i feel very sorry for the parents

pramspotter · 18/05/2009 10:24

So sad. It is so easy to lose a child when they are that age. You blink and they disappear. The poor parents. OMG.
