Gobbledigook · 03/05/2005 12:19

Thank goodness - where did they find the baby? Was the car abandoned?

WideWebWitch · 03/05/2005 12:19

I thought there must have been Janh! This story seems odd, the baby was found at home apparently. Gosh, I might just have to buy the very dreadful Evening Post just to find out what happened. Hmm, the car was found nr me, nice.

JanH · 03/05/2005 12:20

SaintGeorge · 03/05/2005 12:21

The news item has disappeared from the police website too, strange.

JanH · 03/05/2005 12:29

Shock
ScummyMummy · 03/05/2005 13:01

Bizarre. Thank goodness all is well with the baby though.

I do see what you're saying on risk taking bundle but think there's a big danger of then blaming people if they fail to avoid risky situations either knowingly or mistakenly. IMO it's not your dh's fault he was mugged at the end of your road because he failed to get a taxi to your door, for example.

cupcakes · 03/05/2005 13:07

on the radio news now they're saying the baby has been found safe and well and a man and a woman (presumably the parents?) are being questioned. If you hadn't heard the earlier news you'd think they were questioning the car thief/ves.
Keeping it close to their chests then...

Leaving children in the car for a few mins to pop into a local small shop is just like the 60's & 70's when children were left outside in the pram. No-one complained about the mothers then so why should they now. Shouldn't it be the thieves that are in the wrong here??

bundle · 03/05/2005 13:13

i know scummymummy, it's a terrible sign of the times that people like me feel they have to reduce those risks themselves instead of feeling free to just get on with life. and attitudes to risk do change - when i was a child hardly anyone wore seatbelts (let alone them even being fitted in the back) and though the pattern of injuries has changed in rta's, many lives have been saved. when i see children without their seatbelts on i do shudder - eg yesterday, a mum with 4 or 5 kids - she was on mobile phone - in big people carrier, they were literally jumping around the car, the only ones with seatbelts on were her & tiny baby in front seat - she was just about to drive onto dual carriageway

TrophyWife · 04/05/2005 08:17

on the local news last nite they said that the baby was at home with her mother when the dad called in the theft of the car and child, and that the whole thing was a hoaks. what a sick thing to do.
