How are you voting compared to the last election?

I know the Green party candidate and have a great deal of respect for him.

But I don't want the Tory to get in.

jamiesam · 28/04/2005 14:35

Hi

Know this is really hopeless, but how do you find out the results for last time round? I believe I'm in a marginal constituency, and know I will vote the same as last time round. But want to persuade dh to change his vote for sitting MP.

fastasleep · 28/04/2005 14:36

I know this is totally off subject and really silly...but when it says the last posters name on the Active Conversation lists it's in this squiggly font and 'tiddlypom' really looked like 'tiddlyporn'! I had to come and check!!

MissChief · 28/04/2005 14:37

politics.guardian.co.uk/aristotle/

2001 results if you want to be tactical this time.

tiddlypom · 28/04/2005 14:42

Oh Christ does that mean I've got to change my name? Or is it just your filthy mind fastasleep?

MissChief · 28/04/2005 14:43

it's the insomnia getting to her

tiddlypom · 28/04/2005 14:43

AArgghh no you're right, it does look like Tiddlyporn!

fastasleep · 28/04/2005 14:43

I think it's me I'm sorry I was sat there with exactly this expression for a second though!

Solution: change the fonts on my damn computer!

jamiesam · 28/04/2005 14:47

Thanks MissChief

tiddlypom · 28/04/2005 14:52

You're lucky - I can't be bothered...

to change my name I mean - of course I'll vote

astonished · 28/04/2005 14:54

Mischeif, just looked at your link, didn't realise that my Labour MP was only 1% ahead of the tories in the last election. there goes my tactical voting.

DillyDally · 28/04/2005 14:56

Go to theyworkforyou.com which has more details on the sitting mp and what they voted for

some of us are facing blumin awful decisions as the only two likely to get in in my constituency are Oona King or George Galloway - what a choice

jamiesam · 28/04/2005 14:59

God

Just looked at the Guardian link. Our Lib Dem candidates leaflet had misled me. It quotes results of 2004 LOCAL elections across the city - where Lab took 39% of the vote and Lib took 35% of the vote. In this constituency at last general election, Lab took 61.5% of the vote and next best, Lib took 19.7% of the vote. Not the most marginal of constituencies then!

fastasleep · 28/04/2005 15:02

We live in a scary place where last time the two top parties by far were Labour and then the second was a really bloody scary Liberal guy!! 'Bring back the cane' 'setting dogs on foxes is a good sport' 'We'd be better off bombing those smelly Europeans than making friends with them' etc etc! Lol I'm still voting Lib Dem though...even though they got a measly 2% of the votes last time!

astonished · 28/04/2005 15:07

AAAAAAAAagghhhhhhhh, the plot thickens, who the bloody hell do I vote for?? Just looked at your link DillyDally and looked at what my MP voted for. I know I'm leaving it all a bit late in the day but she doesn't come close to representing me. What to do eh?? Can't vote Tories as can't stand michael Howard but a vote for lib dems will probably put them in shit shit shit.

CountessDracula · 28/04/2005 15:08

what exactly constitutes marginal?

Josw19 · 28/04/2005 15:08

Pamina - make no mistake the Tories could easily win back Wimbledon - it was always a Tory seat pre 97. A vote for anyone other than Casale is tory vote in my opinion.

I have no idea what the situation is in my constituency but we had a BNP leaflet through the door this morning , it makes me want to vom. All the public mistrust in the big 2 (or 3 if you want to be pedantic), helps to give scary parties like the BNP that little bit more breathing space and a few more voters.

DickWhittingtonsCat · 28/04/2005 15:25

This is quite useful for disgruntled old labour types. I looked at all the websites of all our candidates and even emailed one of them to ask for a clear indication of her policies on certain issues, and she has not bothered to reply.

alicatsg · 28/04/2005 15:46

The tories made it easy for me - their candidate is my ex boss and I'd rather gargle the contents of ds's worst ever nappy than vote for him. He typifies the worst of the tory boys.

(not that I was ever going to vote tory, but as labour won't get in unless all other candidates are exposed as kiddie porn merchants or (gasp) illegal immigrants, and even then it'd be a tough fight, so was considering which would be the lesser evil)
