Mumsnet Mentioned in Labour's Draft "New Media Strategy"

twelveyeargap · 21/04/2009 00:14

Guido Fawkes Blog item about Labour New Media Briefing

See the link in the red text "Have a read of Labour?s ?me-too? New Media Strategy here."

The quote is, "We also need to ensure Ministers are featured on online forums, such as Mumsnet, money supermarket, Treehuggers etc. Both as featured visitors and as regular contributors."

Reckon they must be fuming that Cameron has been on twice.

Well done Mumsnet Towers.

Send them Policywonk as their new (add or delete as necessary) green energy / ethics / PR / mother and infant guru.

gigglewitch · 21/04/2009 22:01

pmsl. 'featured' on here?? tortured, more like

BunnyAndJoon · 21/04/2009 22:36

Can you imagine the reception they would get? Can I remind you all of shherizzhazidGate

madlentileater · 21/04/2009 22:38

have just looked at treehugger some guy is talking about what to do with his swimming pool
is that typical?

ABetaDad · 21/04/2009 22:59

I just have an unreasonable desire to go on Treehugger and start saying that burning natural gas in combined cycle gas turbines are the most economically and environmentally sustainable way of generating renewable electricty for the UK.

It is true. They are just beautiful machines, just beautiful and natural gas is constantly being renewed and available all over the planet.

[But I won't.]

policywonk · 21/04/2009 23:23

Why thank you, almondeyes!

boredwithmyoldname · 22/04/2009 07:06

revolting

they mean to talk, not to listen

to get the message across, not to get the message

yuk

Neddie · 22/04/2009 11:39

The day I listen to Labour is when I feel supported and able to be a stay at home mum or have properly funded childcare of good quality so I can return to work should I feel it necessary. At the moment there is neither!

Madsometimes · 22/04/2009 13:15

I do agree with PolicyWonk that politicians should answer all the questions, not just the politically comfortable ones.

I remember Harriet Harman being quite thrown by a MNer who asked why sanitary products are considered as a luxury item. I do not remember any concrete reply though... Maybe there was the ubiquitous "We will look into it"

Can you imagine new Labour minister answering questions about the illegal war in Iraq which a million ordinary people took to the streets to protest against before the event?

TwoIfBySea · 22/04/2009 13:16

Oh yuck, it feels like Mumsnet is tainted just by association with that lot.

GivePeasAChance · 22/04/2009 20:28

Yes, how yuck indeed.

We are just people. People are everywhere. Are they saying they do not know any people to talk to about ishoos?

It is so contrived and just makes me squirm. They will never be able to be part of the Mumsnet spirit for reasons outlined above ( i.e. they won't actually give any views or commit to anything) so really should just stay away !

ronshar · 22/04/2009 22:08

If they need to come on to an internet forum, like our fabulous mumsnet, to find out what the people of Britain think, then they are obviously even more crap, out off touch, idiotic, useless and just too plain greedy than I always thought.
Bloody labour party, the biggest bunch of lying, thieving hypocrites.

Come on Gordon Brown, I dare you to come and meet REAL people.

blinks · 22/04/2009 23:30

I'D LIKE TO ASK GORDON ABOUT HIS MAKE OVER.

blinks · 22/04/2009 23:30

THAT AND HIS HINGED JAW.

boredwithmyoldname · 23/04/2009 07:14

they don't want to know

IT'S PR

come on it's just PR you must all know this

it's nothing, nothing at all to do with listening

if they want to learn from mners all they have to do is read

it's opium -- you get to post questions, you feel like something has been done, or you've had your say, and they go away with a box ticked

it's rubbish
