I don't really approve of vandalism but in Fred the Shed's case I do hope the perpetrators get away with it.

yes I must confess to suppressing a chuckle when I read this too ( actually I didn't suppress it - I laughed out loud!)

Actually, makes me even more disgruntled to discover we are all paying for his security - RBS footing the bill with OUR money. And now the cops will be joining in. Can the cheeky fecker not pay for ANYTHING himself?

can anyone enlighten me as to why he is a Sir ?

StercusAccidit · 25/03/2009 18:30

I think its bad
2 wrongs don't make a right
Vandalising someone elses property..to make WHAT point

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 25/03/2009 18:30

Services to banking, donnie.

(Yes, really)

SoupDragon · 25/03/2009 18:32

Of course the police are joining in because some twat has attacked his home.

Saltire · 25/03/2009 18:32

The police were there in 3 minutes? to a burgalry at an empty house? If it had been Mrs Bloggs who works at Tesco and is a single parent with 3 kids, she'd ahve to wait at least 3 days

I'm going to watch Reporting Glasgow Scotland and see what Jackie Burd has to say.

and the bank are paying ffor security at his home, he's an ex employee is he not?

from the BBC
"A police car is now guarding the entrance to Sir Fred's home, in the Grange area of the city"
I bet Fio doesn't have a police car outside her house in case the knife weilding drug addicts come back

agree with the VERY good points contrasting the VIP police response to 'fuck off, I'm taking your money and not giving it back' Goodwin v. any normal member of the public and that RBS - a business that only exists thanks to taxpayers - have no business funding security at an ex-employee's home.

sameagain · 25/03/2009 18:51

Bet his flippin insurance is with RBS too, so we end up paying all ways up - but it did make me smile first thing this morning.

There must be a very long list of suspects.....

edam · 25/03/2009 18:52

population of the UK is something like 59 million so it could take some time to go through everyone who might have a motive.

OP posts:
StercusAccidit · 25/03/2009 18:53

Oh

The RBS

Thats my bank
Who charge me shitloads in overdraft fees
And changed my account from a moneyback one to a reward one where i am worse off

Where does he live?!?!

edam · 25/03/2009 18:55

Morningside, Edinburgh, and there's a handy pic of his house on the ITN website...

OP posts:
StercusAccidit · 25/03/2009 18:58

LOL

You're SUPPOSED to talk me out of it

pavlovthepregnantcat · 25/03/2009 19:03

Just because someone has upset other people, does not give people the right to take the law into their own hands. If mob rule is what we want, lets just overthrow the government now, and get ourselves weapons of choice and a list of all those who have caused us ill.

DaisyMooSteiner · 25/03/2009 19:03

Isn't Morningside near where Isabel Dalhousie lives? I bet she'll be pontificating about it

pointydog · 25/03/2009 19:20

I think it's terrible that people vandalised his house, I really do. Must be a horrible experience for anyone.

sameagain · 25/03/2009 19:25

Absolutely pointy, but being made redundant is a pretty horrible experience too. You can employ a lot of people with £16m, which is what his total pension pot is. It's just not right that he's clinging on to this money while his former subjects (for that's how he saw them) are in danger of becoming destitute.

Not at all saying it's right, but I know a lot of people who had a little chuckle this morning - even my hairdresser was laughing about it when I walked in today.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 25/03/2009 19:26

I think there comes a certain point where people's feelings get beyond the stage of behaving within the law.

Not saying it's right, but what's the difference between a revolution against an unjust oppressor, for example, and taking the law into your own hands? It's all degrees of grey, really, rather than black and white. Difficult to draw the line.

Besides, it's not as if the law or the government is actually DOING anything about Fred the Shred - in fact one might say that it's their complete lack of action that has provoked this reaction.

And it did make me smirk.

Nabster · 25/03/2009 19:27

Police car there after the event? I hardly think they will come back.

He has had to take his kids out of their private school due to bullying.

pointydog · 25/03/2009 19:29

I realise there are strong feelings. I feel quite angry about what he has done too. I could just never find any amusement in this

Janos · 25/03/2009 19:36

Sir Fred Goodwin lives in The Grange.

I'm an Edinburgher..important difference! Posher than Morningside.

Wouldn't do it myself but not surprised this has happened TBH. There's a lot of anger.
