It is shocking but makes a mockery of the policeman pleadin not guilty.

This is probably the tip of the iceberg too - boys will get it worse I imagine.

saw this on the news this morning and was literally open mouthed. the policeman says it doesn't really show what happened - wtf? its pretty clear what happened in my eyes. how he has had the nerve to plead not guilty is totally beyond me.

That's disgusting.

Not guilty?

15yrs old, goodness me.

HerBeatitudeLittleBella · 01/03/2009 12:20

And we're supposed to be surprised are we?

Police all over the world behave like this every day. Let's not kid ourselves that this is particularly unusual.

Interesting that the guy considers himself not guilty. He must have had some kind of legal advice that made him think this plea was viable.

edam · 01/03/2009 13:02

Bloody hell. And in Seattle of all places, where you'd have thought the cops were relatively civilised.

HBLB's right, he's not the only officer to behave like that. There are some in this country (I expect they don't do it in the cells these days but certainly do while on the streets/at demos). There are people who have been killed while being 'restrained'.

devilisunaccomplishedinprada · 01/03/2009 15:52

OMFG that is bloody awful.

the rodney king beating brought to the fore endemic racism

maybe this will highlight endemic abuse of power

the fact he can plead not guilty is a disgrace

not a man really, a pathetic excuse for a human, who clearly can not be an arbiter of justice

this happens all over, every day. and worse. While many many of them are good, decent people, there are some people in the police and armed forces (as in every walk of life) who take advantage of their position to be brutes and do terrible things. In fact, I'd go so far as to say there are a few people who join up specifically to meet some sort of need to bully and hurt people.

Historically, such things have been covered up, but nowadays that is changing. A bit. Slowly. Sometimes.

In Kenya the police used to be terrible! Many many brutes!! Giving them money was the norm. Now it's changing.
