Why don't they have anyone working in these sort of booths?

I have never used one, but it seems shocking that no-one can ask your age, you can place money into the booth as much as you want, and all too save some money for the company.
(It's also pretty local to me).

It makes no difference whether they are staffed or not - it's very easy to lie about your age.

I did exactly the same thing myself when I was her age. It was a mistake, it was painful and there was no-one to blame but myself.

The age thing is true, but I don't understand how you can just keep adding minutes. Surely there should be a maximum amount of time.

You can just keep adding minutes because the machine doesn't know whether you've left and another person has entered, or whether you stay and purchase more minutes.

But why not have someone working there? Where else can you go any "buy" something in a shop that could be deemed dangerous without anyone checking the age of a person.

Alcohol and knives sales are regulated - and look what a success that has been !!

Somehow, she should just be thankful she is okay (just) and put it on the her list of 'things never to do again' ...
