What a great idea! To get kids to love exercise, they are having demonstrations of fun activities in schools.

Erm... watched the video... it's clearly a gymnastics style demonstration and not even slightly sexual in any way.

Okay, completely underestimated teenagers not to go giggly and say to their parents "we had a pole dancing demonstration today, fnarr fnarr" (or whatever the cool, non-35 year old word is for "fnarr" ) but still!

I'm clearly a dreadful prude then

"not even slightly sexual' - that pole was stuck between her legs for most of the performance and she was 'humping' it at the beginning too .... or should I become a nun? &

Gymnastic element great.
Pole-why?

RubberDuck · 29/01/2009 17:54

I think it would depend what other activities were demoed as to whether I'd do much more than raise an eyebrow.

If the boys all got rugby and strength training and the like, and the girls got pole dancing only then I'd be more likely to cry foul.

I just watched that bloody impressed at the strength that woman must have!

RubberDuck · 29/01/2009 17:55

I'll watch it again to see if I notice any humping second time around - first time round impressions only really of the gymnastic element and thought that there was a distinct lack of gyrating or other type of sexual-overtones.

Maybe I just have a pure mind

Looks bloody difficult.

And she is for def rubbing her groin against pole for one bit.

She says she wants to break down association with pole exercise and lap dancing - but is a school the place to start? Pubescant boys not known for proactive feminist leanings as far as I know! And the association with lap dancing clubs is v v strong...
