We ended Tory rule by voting TB in with a series of promises. They didn't include several wars, turning a blind eye to Guantanamo Bay & those torture flights etc. I am so disillusioned by him & would go so far as to say I hate him. He promised so much & so many people had a spring in their steps the day after his victory.

rev in the wake of the shitty thread last night, i was talking to dh about how your meeting arafat was being used as 'proof' that you were a fantasist and he said that if you'd ever been in gaza it was a very likely thing to have happened!

also i KNOW you exist and are who you say you are. just thought i'd mention that.

southeastastra · 18/01/2009 20:42

i read an article today about children being shot at more or less close range in the head.

are they so sub-human? i know war can do strange things to people (vietman) but it's more than i can understand.

Sputnik · 18/01/2009 20:51

Southeastastra, I was reading something the other day which talked about how many Israelis have dehumanised the Palestinians, if that is true of ordinary citizens must be even more so of the army.

it was really shitty last night.

Piffle · 18/01/2009 21:13

rev I think you're possibly a case of too good to be true
Hence the doubters
AS much as I'd love you to be a troll, I suspect that you're real!
I say that as a Moldie.

Yes, thereby fulfilling a childhood ambition (seriously).
I was only in Tirana though, met some fantastic people. They say there has been a lot of development in Tirana since then.

Piffle - the one thing I can definitely say is that my wife is not too good to be true.

I've got a list of her faults here somewhere

Sputnik · 18/01/2009 21:54

I'm not really an expert, but DH was working there and I went out for a couple of extended visits. In Kosovo I tagged along with a group working with various women's projects and we visited a few places. There was still tension, and alot of sadness, mass graves at the roadsides....
We were treated as saviours everywhere we went though, people would shout out "thank you sister" in the street, which was a bit embarassing really, as I felt I was there under false pretences.
