He probably did the gravy

StepfordKnife · 07/01/2009 20:56

Tis not that astounding really is it? I popped number 2 out like a fresh pea from a pod (no irony here) and felt totally fit, well and raring to go within an hour or so post partum....I could have cooked a meal if the occasion demanded it...(number one was a different matter though)

mamalovesmojitos · 07/01/2009 20:57

rofl kingherod.

that woman is superwoman.

TheArmadillo · 07/01/2009 21:00

What kind of arse would sit back and watch his wife cook a full christmas dinner 5 hours after giving birth? Dear god at least let her have the day off.

And I love the way she is presented as some kind of supermum

whitenoise · 07/01/2009 21:06

i had such an adrenalin rush that lasted a couple of days after ds2 was born that i carried on as normal too. After ds3 was born I was doing the school run within a couple of days (albeit a little slower)

ComeWhineWithMe · 07/01/2009 21:09

I was like superwoman the first two days ,hen I slumped and sat in my pj's for 10 days surrounded by a mess.

StepfordKnife · 07/01/2009 21:24

Lol, so true!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 07/01/2009 21:25

A friend of mine, many years ago did this, had homebirth, and then cooked Easter lunch. She is a fab farmers wife.

twoluvlykids · 07/01/2009 21:28

lol. this could have been my fil's birth, on Christmas day back in the 30's. His Mum was very concerned she couldn't cook her dh's breakfast - thankfully a neighbour made sure he poor man had his full English while she gave birth. then cooked the Christmas dinner!!

Nemoandthefishes · 07/01/2009 21:33

when dd1 and dd2 were born I came out of hospital same day and went food shopping etc. Was a complete loon but on auto pilot

BitOfFun · 07/01/2009 21:35

Christ on a bike- have you read the comment underneath from the daft bint who says she drove her family to their holiday 220 miles to Devon a couple of hours after giving birth so they wouldn't be let down ?! What if you haemorraged into your rubber ring that you'd presumably be sitting on, or fainted and had a fatal crash? Bit bleedin stupid if you ask me- cooking dinner pales in comparison!

BitOfFun · 07/01/2009 21:38

Yeah Nemo- I went to the shop for champagne and out to show her off to the neighbours, but our lunacy was obviously lightweight!!

Simplysally · 07/01/2009 21:38

I bet she was starving and wanted to make sure she didn't miss out . I couldn't eat enough after my dd was born - having all my stomach capacity back again was great.

StepfordKnife · 07/01/2009 21:38

Have to disagree BitofFun - depends upon the birth. For some of us its easy (for others, awfully physically demanding). I've had both types of birth. Number 2 was over before it started. I was definitely knackered some days after the birth though (after breastfeeding on demand night and day)

BitOfFun · 07/01/2009 21:40

I know Stepford, but there's sprightly and there's just bonkers...

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 07/01/2009 21:41

LOL at "I felt a bit tired the next day".

No shit!!!

StepfordKnife · 07/01/2009 21:43

PMSL - okay point conceded!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 07/01/2009 21:45

Her dh must be the laziest arse on earth if he let her stand and cook mere hours after having a baby.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 07/01/2009 21:47

She might like cooking and probably felt like superwoman. There's no way I'd leave DH to cook Christmas dinner if I could do it myself. i'd have to be comatose to do that .

Simplysally · 07/01/2009 21:49

I'm trying to remember how I felt after giving birth. The next day I was on a high so I might have managed dinner then. Probably not the same day but then it was Christmas day. Perhaps the high carried her through but I can't help thinking it was a bit silly.

FAQtothefuture · 07/01/2009 21:59

why does him letting her do it mean he's lazy??

Perhaps she wanted to do it.......you know some woman do actually LOVE cooking - especially someting like the Christmas dinner.

Gunnerbean · 07/01/2009 22:05

That's nothing!!

A few years ago I read a post from a regular user of another forum I frequent. She said that she'd had a home birth and had to cook her husband's dinner later on the same day. Apprently he didn't like it for some reason so threw the whole plateful at the wall!

She cleared up all the mess too!

Other forum users were were in response and asked her why on earth she was with a man like that. All these years later, she's still posting tales of woe about her life with him but is still with him.

Beggars belief doesn't it? If I hadn't read it myself I'd have never believe it.
