Our army should go in and help! That's why we have it (or is there no oil? ).

CharCharGabor · 14/11/2008 13:36

Oh God poor little babies. I get the same urge to just scoop them up.

Winebeforepearls · 14/11/2008 13:38

Well Mr Brown has just said he'll back a UN force going in. But we're severely over-stretched elsewhere, so I guess it won't be our army.

Yeah, he'll just throw some money at the problem and hope it'll go away! He was asked weeks ago for some troups, then they announce yesterday that more are being deployed to Afghanistan. Do these people not matter? I'm sure he can spare some, Iraq's calming down now, he should take some out of there. This country has been at war with itself for years now, all those innocent men, women and children that have been murdered or starved to death and so many countries have stood back and done nothing. It's shameful.

Winebeforepearls · 14/11/2008 13:57

It's not often I feel like defending G Brown, Phantom, and of course these people matter, but I'm pretty certain they really cannot spare any more troops for yet another war.

have a look here

Ahh, but that was in April. They have shipped some of our wonderful men and women home since then. This has been going on for years. Everyone should have done something when it first started but it was left to the UN to try and sort out. Their problem is that the country is massive and the villages are miles and miles apart so they are unable to patrol. They need man/women power to do this. The money can buy food but not soldiers/peacekeepers. The UK armed forces have experience through the Bosnian conflict of peacekeeping.

Winebeforepearls · 14/11/2008 14:07

well I'll leave that battle for you, Phantom ..
