There is a recent thread about how you respond to people's stupid comments when you you have more than one of the same sex child so this article caught me eye.

I'd never choose and I've got a DD. I'd like a second child but I'd be happy just to have a second baby, never mind the flavour!

Pinkchampagne · 30/10/2008 11:46

I would never choose. There are far more important things than the childs gender. I would be more concerned that all was ok with my baby.

purpleduck · 30/10/2008 11:50

I have one of each, and yes I was delighted when my second was born, and she was a girl

But I honestly didn't care what I got - they are both healthy, and I am grateful.

I would think twice if we could pass on a gender linked condition.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 30/10/2008 18:28

Well, I may be alone in this, but with two sons I would have had a third child if I could have been guaranteed that it would be a girl. Since there is not guarantee, I do not have (and won't, now) a third child.

Lizzylou · 30/10/2008 18:32

I'm the opposite, if I were to have another child, would want to guarantee another boy (3rd boy), would hate for DS2 to think that he was a bit surplus to requirements.

Would NEVER contemplate another one anyhoo.

Tortington · 30/10/2008 18:35

i think boys are easier than girls and i also think that my existing dd would be mightily pissed off.

i think i would eaither leave it to chance or chose a boy.

i deffo wouldnt deliberatley choose a girl thats for sure

does anybody know the answer to what the "legal minefield" would be?

Looking at the article, it seems that if you go to eg Turkey to have the treatment, there is a risk of you being arrested and so forth while in Turkey, since it's illegal (though apparently available) there. I don't suppose they'd chase you home, though.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 30/10/2008 20:12

so the legal minefield is when in that country? I was confused hearing it on the bbc as I didn't know the authorities would do!

LoolaBoys · 30/10/2008 20:15

I would, but only for the sake on my PIL. I have two sons, MIL lost two baby girls after soon after birth and has two boys. I would really love to give IL's a granddaughter. If it was just me, I would happily stick to boys. They are so uncomplicated compared to girls.

It sounds like the Turkish company are operating illegally (unless it's a scam, where you pay up front and don't get a service) so that would be where the risk is, I'd think.
