...will they be able to go to school together?

Agree with comment that it's a leetle bit early to be worrying about it

Cute babies but Lexus? Why not call the other one Auris?

Agree, it is a bit early to be worrying about it - and moving to Spain solely for this reason seems like an overeaction - but, that said, I agree with them that it would be daft for them to be in separate year groups and I would not allow it myself if they were mine.

And they are gorgeous. When does a woman stop being broody at the sight of newborns?

FAQ · 09/09/2008 12:26

given the joke that is Northampton Council I too would be worried about it

It wasn't long after DS1 was born (also a September baby) that I thought about the fact that he'd be one of the oldest in the year when he started school.

God Aimsmum, that would be going to extremes!

bungalowbelle · 09/09/2008 12:30

Ohhh my God why did I click on that.

Lexus and Amber are absolutely GORGEOUS!

Impregnate me NOW! Someone. Anyone!!

poorbuthappy · 09/09/2008 12:31

Yes it is early to be thinking about this, but we all know how councils work...

take the obvious option so everyone is happy?
Or, take the most difficult, most expensive, most likely to upset the most people option?

Answers on a postcard please...

IIRC (am sure this is right and I have always told this story to friends), there were twins at school with in one of the schools I went to who had this happen to. they were the eldest in our year, so clearly they went to school together and one 'technically' went down a year.

of course, they may have just been the eldest without having the midnight issue and just like to tell stories (as kiddies do), but I do know that they had already had their birthday before the school year started in september!

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 09/09/2008 12:38

I thought that Sep 2nd was the cut off point for school years?

Its really odd as I was wondering the other day how many twins are born either side of midnight!

Bramshott · 09/09/2008 12:39

Yes Fio Fio, was interested to see that the parents were angling for them both to be given the August 31st date rather than Sept 1st.

I suspect in such circumstances, many LEAs would listen to common sense. Surely?

anniebear · 09/09/2008 21:33

I dreaded that with my twins!

they were born at 6.58 and 7.10 pm Aug 31st (2001)

I was getting worried that they could come out on different days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh did I push lol

Megglevache · 09/09/2008 21:35

Gosh, how adorable are those babies.

anniebear · 09/09/2008 21:36

I can understand why she doesnt want them a year apart at school

Could become quite difficult

They would honestly be in different school years so one twin would go at age 4 a whole year before her sister at age 5 I think they would get a special dispensation surely.

Or they could move up here to Scotland, here it runs from March to Feb so no problems. Also if you have a child whose birthday falls in January or February so they would be the youngest in the school year at 4 1/2 and you don't think they are ready to go to school you can as a parent decide to hold them back so they go at 5 1/2.

lickleolme · 09/09/2008 23:16

I have friends who are twins, they to were born August 31/September 1. They started school when they were 5, and it wasn't until we were all a year off secondary school that there were problems. Education found out, and tried to get twin A to go to secondary school a yr early (her correct yr iswim) her parents fought for and got her moved 'down' a year. I haven't seen them for some years now, but I know at the time that twin A was over the moon, as her and her sister were very close.

DisasterArea · 09/09/2008 23:20

could be coplicated.
i have uncles that were born 5 days apart over aug/sept but they are so old i don't think it was ever an issue. also dead rich so had paid tutors at home until older.

Katisha · 09/09/2008 23:23

Not twins but I quite like having children born in different millennia. DS1 1999.DS2 2001.

WendyWeber · 09/09/2008 23:30

Five DAYS apart, DisasterArea????

What was their mum doing between deliveries?

When I was at school there were 3 brothers, two in the same year (but not twins) and one in our year in the year below! He said it was horrible, as once ppl knew, he could always see them mentally work when their parents must have had sex!

lickleolme · 09/09/2008 23:56

if you had children in Jan and August of the same year, (which could happen) is that when they call them Irish Twins.
