OP posts:

Three year olds are all insane. They are mad as a box of frogs.

BlueDragonfly · 07/08/2008 12:08

pocket money?

oh dear my children are horribly deprived!!

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 07/08/2008 12:08

Yikes!

LynetteScavo · 07/08/2008 12:09

Luck, lucky little boy to get home safely.

Just goes to show, though, there are more good people in the world than bad.

WaynettaSlob · 07/08/2008 12:10

how the hell did he get out of the house? All our door handle / locks / keys etc are way too highfor even my tall almost 5 yo to get out.

ChopsTheDuck · 07/08/2008 12:11

why on earth were the keys in his reach?! Ours are hidden away, I have two three year olds and it's like fort knox round here.

LynetteScavo · 07/08/2008 12:12

But 3 year old watch where you hide things....then go and get a chair.

can your kitten open the front door cod

wonderstuff · 07/08/2008 12:21

Wow, a mile and a half is quite a way for a 3yo! My 9mo has the danger and excitement gene, gonna have to watch her like a hawk when she starts walking

nailpolish · 07/08/2008 12:21

my 3 yr old can reach keys and door handles

she would wake me at 3am and expect a lift to the shop though

No, my 10yo doesn't get pocket money either!

LynetteScavo · 07/08/2008 12:40

TBH,if I were the parents I would have kept this out of the paper!

Pinkjenny · 07/08/2008 12:48

Hmmm do you think this is quite accurate. Very clever three year old to be able to find the key, reach to unlock the door etc etc.

Maybe 3 year olds deserve more credit than I give them!!

Not sure I'd want this in the paper either!!!

Ags · 07/08/2008 12:49

This is a great story. Thank goodness it turned out as it did and he is safe. Reminds me of my friends who awoke one Saturday morning, heard a funny noise and looked out the bedroom window to see their car driving very slowly down the drive. The husband ran out of the house and caught up with it. Inside were their three boys aged 7, 5 and 3. The 7 year old was driving and when asked where the hell they were going replied 'Chessington World of Adventure'!

GrapefruitMoon · 07/08/2008 12:58

My ds's would be far too lazy to walk 1.5 miles for a sweet (even ds2 who has an incredible sweet tooth..)!

zippitippitoes · 07/08/2008 13:03

he looks rather like my dgs and yes i can imagine it happening

its the day they can do something you didnt realise they could or would isnt it

bright kid

i think

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 07/08/2008 13:05

my nearly 5 y o would do that and has tried to escape the house in the night to get to nana's house though, not the shop. luckily the dog alerted me to what she was attempting. she was about two at the time

i dont think she would take her pocket money she would just expect the shop to give her the sweets .

all keys are kept out of her reach on a very high nail above the door frame. which she does try to reach with a stool but cant. our front door is also alarmed so it makes a racket whenever anyone opens it.

poor parents and what a lucky little boy. must have been an awfull shock being woke up by the police telling you your child had been wandering the streets.

nametaken · 07/08/2008 13:06

That's what I thought too . What a bright and resourceful boy, he'll go far.

LynetteScavo · 07/08/2008 13:31

I can so imagine my boys doing this.

My father did something similar at 3, but during the day. My grandmother told the shop keeper to give him what he asked for, and she would settle up latter. (It probably wan't 1.5 miles to the shop, though!)
