good for them!

Guadalupe · 19/07/2008 08:19

typical thick response in the comments, 'sex is natural but you don't see people bonking in Macdonalds'

misdee · 19/07/2008 08:20

good for them!

want to leave a comment on there but think its signed in as dh (he comments on footy stuff) so dont think it would be good for a man to say he breastfed his daughters lol.

Caz10 · 19/07/2008 08:26

good for them! nice to see some are quite young too

ilovemydog · 19/07/2008 08:28

Muslin cloth over baby's head?

SoupDragon · 19/07/2008 08:41

I loved the comment about deeding being unnatural! PMSL! Felt obliged to register in order to post a comment.

NorthernLurker · 19/07/2008 08:44

maybe she wanted to conceal the babies identity? I've used a muslin for a bit of extra privacy depending on what I was wearing - there is quite a lot of boob to be discreet with in my case. Must say it never went over the babies head though? I think this is an excellent response though and it's encouraging to see the company spokesman disowning the manager as well.

SoupDragon · 19/07/2008 08:48

If having a muslin covering her baby feeding is what makes that mother comfortable feeding in public who cares??

treacletart · 19/07/2008 09:03

Just came on to post about this too. I could pick holes in it, but genearally I'm really heartened by such positive coverage in the Sun. The tabloids and MacDonalds are exactly where these "battles" need to be fought!

misdee · 19/07/2008 09:06

oh i couldnt resists, left this comment!

'I am really lol-ing at these people who dont like breastfeeding in public. I mean, you read the sun, with its daily page three showing more nipple than the ladies in this picture are showing.

Get a grip people. its just flesh with a nipple on it. Actually theres a baby attached so u cant even see the nipple!

Have breastfed my daughters everywhere. When a baby needs feeding, it needs feeding then and there. They can't wait, unlike us. If you dont like to see it, then move. But dont expect ladies with babies to hide themselves away.'

littleducks · 19/07/2008 09:09

While i might not use a muslin to cover up while feeding normally (i rely upon mu clothes mostly instead) i would probably be tempted to just in case if i was intending for the photo to appear in a national newspaper and on the internet!

They seem to have made their point though so well done to them.

theSuburbanDryad · 19/07/2008 09:21

I think these are the ladies who have organised the Bournemouth breastfeeding picnic! Go Ladies!!

franke · 19/07/2008 09:21

Lovely story - amazed it's in the Sun. I like your comment Misdee

Bumperlicious · 19/07/2008 09:22

I'm so sick of "It's fine as long as you are discreet"

DD is now 13 months and discrete it is not, especially as she now wants both boobs out at the same time and to swap between them every 30 seconds . I do my best to cover up between swaps because even I am sick of seeing my own nipples! But does that mean I shouldn't feed her in public?

Bumperlicious · 19/07/2008 09:23

I like that comment someone made at the bottom 'They really don't like it in Macdonalds when you bring your own food in'

theSuburbanDryad · 19/07/2008 09:27

Cod - ds would get my other breast out himself (if I let him).

How about you don't look?

So you would put your own squemishness above the needs of a babies'?

Nice.

Cod - I don't let him get both breasts out. I am a fan of nursing ettiquette for babies, and he has to learn that he doesn't get everything he wants, especially if we're nursing in public.

But I don't understand other peoples' squeamishness when it comes to breasts. They're BREASTS! The small squidgey things on the front of your chest! It's not obscene or indecent - it's not illegal. It's nursing a baby, and I don't see why it's made to be such a big issue.

Having said that, I do think we can always be considerate of other peoples' feelings.
