ds2 and3 won't touch vegetables.

Does that mean they don't like farmers?

How ridiculous!

MsDemeanor · 07/07/2008 13:48

My dd said her lunchtime ham was 'too spicy' because it had a grainy mustard crust. I wonder who is insulting?

it is very, very
Though I agree that of course any little children using awful words like 'paki' need help. This sort of wild stretching of the term 'racist' really undermines the entire message.

Iklboo · 07/07/2008 13:48

I don't like spicy food - it doesn't make me racist. If a person from overseas doesn't like yorkshire pudding or blancmange are they racist???

Tortington · 07/07/2008 13:49

i am not sure from the article -apart from reporting it to council

the point is?

do you think this is an attempt on the part of the government to enforce another part of parenting theough institution?

i do!

micci25 · 07/07/2008 13:49

oh incedantly dd isnt to fond of bubble and squeek either does that mean she is racist towards her own country?

she loves pasta though, perhaps she believes that she is italian?

LynetteScavo · 07/07/2008 13:49

Stupid.

And the bit about "they smell" - My 5yo told someone they smelled the other day (to be fair they did need a wash!) so he is obviously predudiced agianst red heads.

LynetteScavo · 07/07/2008 13:51

I thought blacmange was French?

I hate haggis, and Guiness. Don't get me started.

bogie · 07/07/2008 13:52

Ds must be a racist then he doesn't like anything spicy.
But his 3 best friends are black or mixed raced.

cheesesarnie · 07/07/2008 13:52

i hate yorkshire puddings but for the record believe that people from yorkshire are very nice.

Iklboo · 07/07/2008 13:52

It is French - person saying they didn't like blancmange may be called a Francophobe

Iklboo · 07/07/2008 13:53
Grin
butwhybutwhy · 07/07/2008 13:53

OFGS.

Am lol at LTH and her ds not liking farmers

Kewcumber · 07/07/2008 13:54

racist language reported fair enough - but not liking foods

DS is Asian and doesn't like most spicy foods - I'm sure means something comples which is going to cost me a fortune in therapy in the years to come.

bogie · 07/07/2008 13:54

Ds also say's C is my best friend C is brown and I am pink.....Does that make him racist he is only 2 and telling the truth.

mrsruffallo · 07/07/2008 13:55

Ridiculous!!
This is too much
Three year old children are not racist.
I agree have a word with the parents if they use offensive language but if they don't like spicy food?
How silly. Lots of babies like spicy food, then go off it as toddlers, then like it again when a little older.

constancereader · 07/07/2008 13:55

Saying yuk is bad manners, not racism.

nooka · 07/07/2008 13:57

Well that sounds a bit OTT, but this is the Telegraph isn't it? So unlikely to be unbiased reporting. Going yuk about food is rude though isn't it. I certainly tell my children off if they say that. If they then said "I won't eat this foreign muck" then I would suspect that the family had some racist attitudes (not that that toddler was racist). Oh and telling someone they smell is a typical bully comment, and often used in racist abuse (although of course for a literal minded toddler might also be used about someone who wears too much perfume)

Kewcumber · 07/07/2008 13:58

MrsR - thats my DS - chomped his way throguh any spicy food you gave him until about 2.2 and now says "don't like it"

Tortington · 07/07/2008 13:58

i strongly susect this is one small thing to be measured in conjunction with many others
this one thing picked out for journo hype.

that said. even if it is in a raft of other suggestions

what is the point?

edam · 07/07/2008 14:01

Oh FFS. I know it is the Telegraph but presumably the 'saying yuk to food is the start of racism' is actually part of this report. Has anyone involved in the preparation of this report ever actually met a small child? Good grief.

edam · 07/07/2008 14:02

yes, custy, I'm sure there is a lot of other stuff in the report that couldn't fit into a 500 word news story but still, the 'yuk' part is just ludicrous.

mrsruffallo · 07/07/2008 14:06

Kew- I am sure that he will come back to it!
Most children over say, 5, seem to enjoy a bit of spice again if they did so as babies
