She said she cleaned it up with wipes - not sure how that’s possible to be fair?

Grim isn't it. I don't know why Brand did not plead guilty when presented with the wealth of evidence the prosecution were going to present or at least his defence barrister may have suggested this? (Or is that not how it works?)

Klippin · 24/10/2026 13:09

I’m not defending btw - just giving a diff perspective that could sway jury etc.

mids2019 · 24/10/2026 13:11

You see Brand never asked for sheets to be placed in a washing machine? So the wiping of the 'mess' was in and of itself a long of cruel torture emerging from a disturbed mind imho.

I think he is mentally unwell but will the prosecution be able to prove this. The nonchalance is chilling but there will be some that would say if he was guilty he would be mortified and shying away completely from public life.

I do worry that the prosecution will struggle to “prove” the allegations. He’s always come across as a sleaze and I don’t doubt he tried it on with hundreds of women and treated them and others appallingly but that’s not proof, although it’s a strong indicator of his character.

The jury is definitely in about whether Brand is c#£t. Guilty some time ago....The problem is its not a crime. It's the 'beyond reasonable doubt' that concerns me as it's a high bar with rape.

Yip. The defence is presumably the best in the business and getting paid a lot. I think the defence could be a rough ride.

I think it’s now been proven in the cross exam that it wasn’t Russell thay said ‘clean it up’ it was someone else who was sharing the house with him as Russell had to leave to go a gig.

No, I don't think that has been "proven" or established at all, as far as I'm aware?

She said his instruction to "clean it up" happened IMMEDIATELY after. From him to her. That HE told her to "clean up the mess YOU have made".

THEN later, there were other people in the household involved. When she was doing so. He may have instructed them to make her do it also while he went off to his gig.

Exactly that. There is a difference between guilt and proving that leaving no room for doubt.

Cleaning blood and excrement with wipes is impossible - it would just make it worse.

Washing machine or bin imo

Grim

Klippin · 24/10/2026 13:23

She’s not really gone into detail about it though had she. How she managed to ‘clean it up’ just that she used wipes.

I feel the jury will pick holes in that unfortunately.

as realistically - it would be imoossible clean with wipes so did she leave the mess there and get in the car?

Klippin · 24/10/2026 13:24

Also she said he flipped her over, removed his condom and the anally raped her. And her head was in pillows and she couldn’t breath.

as horrifying as this is. How did she know he removed his condom at this point if her head was face down in the pillows. ?

Fifth complainant: ‘We’re not here to discuss my morality’. Too bloody right. There’s been a lot of cross-examination bordering on the ‘well you were wearing a short skirt, what did you expect’. How depressing.

Quite right. Her morality isn’t being debated legally, it’s his

I don’t think you’d know would you

She said she knew during the rape. She was begging him to stop and he said I want you to feel my cum.. This is when she realized he’d removed the condom as she wouldn’t have felt his cum if he was wearing one. She said it made her worried she could have caught an STD for ages afterwards.

I presume he meant.. get rid of the bulk of it so my cleaner can strip it and put it in the wash. In the same way I’ve done when my kids had accidents when they were little.

Klippin · 24/10/2026 13:51

Plausible she just need to make sure it’s clear in her testimony as can lead to a confusing account otherwise. And this is court.

Whosthetabbynow · 24/10/2026 13:54

Yes everything has to be concise plus it’ll be raked over with a fine-tooth comb

MorwennaIII · 24/10/2026 14:29

I’m not sure the defence is going to be rough for the prosecution. Who will their witness be - Brand? Unless he has a character transplant he won’t come across as credible at all.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 24/10/2026 14:47

If Brand really did leave the flat having asked a flatmate to tell Claimant to clear up the mess, I wonder what that flatmate thought about it all. He must surely have seen how very distressed Claimant was! Does this suggest that Brand treating a woman in a vile way and then bogging off leaving his flatmate(s) to deal with and get rid of her was something the flatmate(s) was/were used to? Something he or they condoned?

I think the defense will try to pick apart any inconsistency in the women’s statements. There will be some but that’s normal because of memory/trauma and how much time has passed. I don’t think it’s going as well for the defense so far as they imagined it would. I’m also hoping Russell Brand takes the stand.

See, I think the opposite about the anal rape example. The fact the victim is so open about the other things she did willingly makes it very, very clear what wasn't and what was different about this. And the "clean it up" reaction of his is something most people would recognise as horrific and abusive in itself. Also the many witnesses to her reaction afterwards are pretty compelling, including just how many of them reacted with horror and said "that was rape" regardless of anything else. I think it was the best way for the prosecution to play this and may swing the case. Whereas I fear that with the first woman, though I 100% believe her, that it'd be more a case of he said/she said that there so often are in such examples. I hope not, but that depends on the views and prejudices of the jury.

I also think that the repeat patterns of behaviour that were witnessed are likely to swing the case against him, even though they need to look at charge by charge. I certainly hope so.

I agree

Really? That’s not what was said in the podcast I listened to. I thought she was clear it was RB who said ‘clear up the mess you’ve made’. If she was undermined on that in cross then that’s not good for the prosecution but I didn’t think she was.

He also didn’t have to do this trial as he lives in America now but he came willingly as he wants it to be sorted out

This can’t be right. The allegations are of crimes taking place in England so this country has jurisdiction, they can get him here by legal force if need be.
