Found not guilty is also that the beyond reasonable doubt test is not met. Does not mean that the specific crime probably wasn't committed.

I have been really interested in Laura’s situation since the initial charges came out.

I’ve been in a similar relationship dynamic with someone narcissistic and grandiose while I was the dutiful caring wife (no criminal charges or cheating in my case but similar otherwise).

I recognise a lot of her behaviour (fawning, always deferring to him etc).
I think a few things are keeping her with him

  1. She has been told by him that she has saved him and shown him the true love and care that he was fruitlessly searching for when promiscuous and going from woman to woman. When he turns on the charm and expresses such things it must feel wonderful to her
  2. They both have expressed multiple times on their podcast (I have listened to a lot of them because she interest me greatly given my own history) that spiritual warfare is real and the devil can work through people to attack Christians and turn them away from God/each other. I imagine she has come to believe that dark forces are using these women as vessels in a bid to destroy their family
  3. ‘Us against the world’ or in this case ‘us against the devil’ is a powerful tool abusers like RB can use to keep people attached to them
  4. RB has mentioned Laura being co-dependent (on the podcast without her her consent, interestingly enough!). That kind of personality can easily end up in a cult-like situation with a charismatic man to follow, and they’ll believe things he says even with all the evidence to the contrary staring them in the face

Having said all of that - I do think that she has moments of being embarrassed by him and getting the ick - her reaction when he randomly started speaking in tongues on the podcast (it’s a perfect example of the fact that he still can’t help self-aggrandising and being the most extreme example of whichever persona he’s currently inhabiting) was a good example of that. It was very subtle but you could tell it was a bit embarrassing for her.

Unfortunately I think that in the short term at least this court case will shore up her doubts and keep her even closer to him.
I suspect they compare his ‘plight’ to that of Jesus, with the betrayals by friends and sham trial. So sadly even if he is convicted I think she will see him as a Christ-like figure who has been deeply wronged.

I won’t be surprised if he says something like ‘forgive them for they know not what they do’. It makes me think that on some level this all would be great for his ego.

This is very insightful thank you.

Yes. “Probably” did it isn’t high enough to meet the standard of proof. Which is fucking irritating in this case TBH because I believe the complainants 💯%.

Ok so there was a documentary in 2015 which showed his change to social activist over the last five years which apparently he originally was up for and then wanted not to be shown. They rekindled in 2015 so he was an activist. They’ve moved to Florida. I’m interested in why some comments elsewhere seem to think ‘ the establishment ‘ are doing this as he’s such a revealer of truth? He seems to be a fringe figure using a platform available to anyone and not really a threat to ‘the establishment’?

I'm not challenging you at all here, but don't forget he won't be found innocent. He will only be found not guilty. The two, in terms of law, are very different things which are important to distinguish.
I'm picking up on this because I don't want to see the internet awash with "Brand is innocent" when he is found not guilty. He isn't innocent and he never will be.

Edited

Fair enough. I understand the distinction.
As it's clear throughout my posting on this thread I don't think he's innocent so when I say 'found innocent' I do really mean not enough proof for them to be sure.
I won't be saying, 'He is innocent.'

@TofuTuesdayI am fairly sure the origin of the spin that the “establishment” are doing this as he’s such a truth-teller is Brand himself.

If he is found not guilty it means that the allegations could not be proved beyond reasonable doubt on this occasion rather than him being innocent

Even if he is found not guilty by a random jury, so many people really, really want to cling to their own preconception that he has to be guilty and should be punished forever for a crime no one has proven he committed..

No. I don't think that's the case.

You may be believe he did it, I may believe he did it nevertheless a juror might think he didn't do any of it and not as you to be suggesting I think he did it but can't prove it so I'm gonna have to say not guilty.

What you seem to be describing is the French system where guilt is assumed unless you can prove you're innocent.

(I'm happy to be corrected on the French system.)

redballerina · 01/11/2026 15:22

I really feel that he did it and I also really feel that he will be found not guilty 😓

Fast800goingforit · 01/11/2026 15:28

Does anyone follow Laura Richards on Insta? She has an interest post on Brand and on the celebrity seeking an injunction.

No, re-read my post, slowly…
I have no preconception and didn’t hear their evidence - the jury did. Not going to second-guess the judging of those actually witnessed the evidence being given.

You are making it personal when it’s not - I’m describing the justice system in this country

he is already guilty or not - he’s not waiting in some kind of anti chamber to turn into guilty or innocent

I’m describing what it means in the real world after a court process has been applied

he’s already guilty or not - that is reality now

Why ever not? Like you say you aren’t party to that separate process

Your not part of this particular court process you can have an opinion

Mamamia35 · 01/11/2026 15:53

Yes I do @Fast800goingforit I saw that post yesterday. Sent me down another rabbit hole. Also saw that Terry Christian had posted the awards ceremony clip of Bob Geldof.

yes, she's brilliant. I really hope she is still consulted on some matters

SpanishFly · 01/11/2026 16:07

I really hope that other women start to speak up, now that they know they have support from other women. Then (esp if he gets found not guilty), the extent of RB's crimes will be out there for all to see.

What's the relevance of Bob Geldof got to do with this thread?!?🤔
