Was Jason Arday just the perfect victim?

1000 replies

KellyK2026 · 15/08/2026 16:01

Surely I can’t be the only one that feels like Jason Arday was a victim, right? Yesterday he was found dead and I feel bad for him. Here’s the reasons why I think he was a victim:

  1. It is absolutely insane to me that Cambridge University would appoint him as a Professor when he was in the early stages of his career. It’s practically unheard of. At any university you typically have to earn your dues (which means working as an academic for many years) OR do something truly special, like a Nobel Prize nomination, to be promoted to Professor. I cannot imagine the amount of pressure he had been under to prove himself and likely had a tremendous amount of imposter syndrome. Cambridge let him down.
  2. I’ve worked in academia for many years, and let me tell you, academics are under a tremendous amount of pressure to publish. This pressure can compromise quality. Arday isn’t the first nor will he be the last to publish questionable papers.
  3. As I’ve worked in academia for years, I’ve experienced academics make racist and sexist remarks first hand. One white academic I worked with got drunk at a work get together and started a rant about how Black people shouldn't be president (this was when Obama was in power), that Obama was a Muslim and interracial relationships were ‘disgusting’. What made this somewhat even worse was that this particular academic wrote about racism in the public sphere, so he profited from writing about Black struggles while harbouring these personal views. There was no repercussions for him, despite presenting himself as something other than what he was.
  4. I’ve also been sexually assaulted at a conference by a male academic. No repercussions for him either and he no doubt pretends to be a feminist in his work.
  5. I don’t think it’s in doubt that Arday had autism. Now I don’t know how it affected him personally, but, again, that must’ve been extremely difficult and perhaps even blurred what is and isn’t acceptable in higher education.
  6. He was also cleared of plagiarism but, again, so many academics have plagiarised ideas and papers, but they haven’t been strung up like Arday has been.
So, long story short, I feel like Cambridge let him down. And I feel like he was targeted because there’s plenty of other examples but they never get called out and nobody cares. It was a witch hunt. But I’d be interested to hear what others have to say on this matter.

JA has already been investigate and exposed to a significant extent, just people like you are failing to see what is clearly being presented to them.

The Media doesn't need vindicating, they have done nothing wrong, and they have shown themselves as a profession to be more than capable of supporting each other. For now I'm happy to leave them to it. Obviosuly if this JA BS goes anywhere I'll be more than happy to campaign for freedom of speech/press, but not really necessary right now.

Also the 100k people signing the petition to look into this situation need to be very careful what they wish for, because if there is an unbiased thorough investigation your hero JA is highly unlikely to come out of it smelling of roses, as we all know he lied, this is in absolutely no doubt, we just don't know the extent of it yet!!

He was investigated for plagiarism and exonerated. Are you just going to ignore that?

The media didn’t hang him as you put it; he hung hinself. It’s sad that he felt he couldn’t carry on but that really is down to him. He could have got through it all.

i notice there are statements from his family but who are they? He wasn’t married anymore and didn’t live with his kids so who are this family of his? They certainly weren’t with him when he died. There’s an awful lot that’s opaque and vague around JA and the lies cloud the landscape even more. I certainly don’t trust the race baiters (Abbott, Andrew’s etc) who have been quick to get on board. The GLP and academics from LJMU to Cambridge will be covering their backs and welcoming any distraction from whatever their roles played in this maelstrom of EDI madness.

Ultimately. JA was a victim but a willing one seeing as victimhood was a large part of his schtick and he dined out on how he overcame it all, until he didn’t.

I don’t know what his marital status was, but that’s hardly important. We don’t need to know everything about his life. I don’t see how that’s important.

This has nothing to do with this. Stop making it a left wing/right wing debate. It’s ridiculous.

Why are you saying this is left/right wing? I never mentioned that. But it is clearly part of the omnicause - just look at who
is supporting the hysteria, not least GLP.

Im not interested in your political beliefs whatsoever. And you’ve been remarkably offensive in other posts that you’ve made. Particularly towards people who support Palestine. Keep it off my Thread. It’s got no place here and it was deleted by MNHQ. So stop doing it.

Look you can deny that Arday was a liar, fraud and manipulative racist bully, you can keep pretending that hes a victim of the right wing press as you previously claimed, you can claim that this is all racism and that he was failed by Cambridge. You can deny that the left wing omnicause has taken up Ardays case and are painting him as a victim of a right wing racist pile on.
What you cant do is prevent people "on your thread" from pointing out who exactly is championing Arday, why they are doing so and what other causes they support

I actually didn’t even mention right-wing, so you’ve clearly got me confused with someone else.

Do you think it’s ok to make offensive comments about people’s political beliefs? Do you even know what that commenter had said before it was deleted? I bet you don’t. You just want something to say.

An undergrad would never have got away with copying others work the way the star professor of the institution who was paraded across the press on his appointment has. He wasn’t exonerated, it was brushed under the carpet.

WhyDontILearn · 18/08/2026 11:03

I really don’t care. You and a couple of other posters have truly lost me though by 1. Claiming I’ve said things that I haven’t (not once did I mention ‘right-wing media’, so I don’t know where that was pulled from, 2. Not once have I said anything bad about the right-wing or left-wing. I keep my political beliefs out of it. But there’s been numerous times where a very small minority with very loud voices have used this as a platform to talk offensively about other people’s political beliefs. You and a couple of others have actually made me even more adamant in my views, and that’s saying a lot as I’ve ‘liked’ many comments which provided a different perspective but which were considered and eloquently put. I just think you can’t stand that I don’t agree with you and so you’re now forced to make things up and target people’s political beliefs. Which is ironic given the topic because it’s untruthful.

He was found not guilty through a formal process. You can argue about it, but that’s a fact.

So which of the other causes I linked with people supporting Palestine do you find ‘remarkable offensive’? The fact they also support JA? Open borders? Trans stuff?

No she/he can't and gets really rather aggressive and changes the goalposts when her false narrative is proven false such as claiming that Cambridge should have refused Ardays resignation when legally they couldn't.
I've seen this sort of behaviour before it usually comes from the be kind omnicause brigade, but I guess that im "just want something to say"🤣
