Just seen this on 5 News. Appalling.

ANOTHER one?? There was the man in his 60s who was drugging his (presumably similarly aged) wife for other men to rape her - and now this?
And to think I've seen men suggesting that the Gisele Pelicot case was so rare as to be exceptional. Maybe it's just getting caught that's been the exception up to now.

What is wrong with men??

Presumably Nigel Farage will ask for a cold, hard rage reaction. Oh no - guess what - it nearly makes the news.

Not all men are like this, but almost everyone like this is a man.

I'm beginning to think that many/most men are only prevented from being like this for fear of getting caught. That's the only way I can explain why so many wealthy/powerful men who can have any number of willing women still choose to rape and degrade women, including (particularly?) those few women who don't want them.

They'd only been seeing each other 2 or 3 months before she broke it off because of his escalating controlling behaviour.

And then he went off and found 18 men who happily turned up at her house to enact so-called rape "fantasies" in a pretty short space of time. It shouldn't be that easy to find men who want to turn up at the house of a stranger and "pretend" to rape her.

It disturbs me that the reporting almost seems to suggest that they were "victims" of this man too. I certainly don't see it that way.

If this is what he did to someone he'd been seeing briefly, what the hell else is in his past?

It does make you wonder whether it has always happened. Likewise, I had never heard of babies/toddlers being raped before until about 25 years ago in South Africa. I thought perhaps it only happened there. I can think of two cases of it happening in England just this year. They were probably getting away with it in the past

Did anything happen to the men that went along with it, including the one that broke into her house? Doesnt mention anywhere but im guessing nothing happened to them

It says they met in April and she dumped the wanker at the start of May.

I suspect that the internet (porn sites in particular) are responsible for a lot of men no longer being satisfied with "normal" sex. I think a lot of things wouldn't have even occurred to most people in the not so long ago past, because they'd never heard of them. Now it's become banal.

OTOH you're right of course that the other way to see it is that some men were doing it and not getting caught because nobody believed it possible. Isn't that how Freud developed many of his theories - his patients told him of sexual abuse by fathers or other family members and he chose to believe that it was fantasy not reality?

How awful that they were disclosing it and not being believed.

I'm not a specialist in any way, but I do wonder where that leaves the whole "science" of psychotherapy, which after all is strongly influenced by Freud, who, it turns out, was a charlatan.

Or maybe there are schools of psychotherapy that reject Freud entirely - I don't really know. But if so, I wonder why he still seems to get all the credit for having pretty much founded the concept.
