ANC 'dismayed' by Zimbabwe crisis

Obviously these are just a few words, and not quite as strong as the words I would like them to stand up and say to the rest of the world. But still better than the silence (and even outright support) they've given him in the past.

It's just awful watching this happen; Morgan Tsvangirai's safety is at risk and he can't even leave the Dutch embassy. The whole situation is a total farce.
But if samctions are forced, the people will suffer even more, no doubt Mugabe is so aware of this. He just doesn't care.

It's a shame Thabo Mbeki can't say them. I don't trust Jacob Zuma as far as you can throw him but at least he's pulled his head out of his bum and is saying something.

Well, perhaps it is because while some were languishing in jail for their beliefs and helping the struggle for black empowerment, Mr Mbeki was living it up at Sussex University ...

Mr Mugabe is seen by many as the voice against the UK and a hero for his two fingered salute to the West ...

Finally SADC are meeting this morning and are allegdly going to issue a statement to encourage Mugabe to come to some kind of power sharing agreement like we have in Kenya. Mugabe is much more likely to listen to them than to the UN. Will it make any difference do you think?

The other African countries should be ashamed at allowing this to continue. Presumably they cheered him on when he was simply picking on the white Zimbabweans but when he began on the black did they feel they couldn't then condemn him? Solidarity against the white oppressors (sp)?

That is the only reason I can think that would cause them to stand back and allow the horror that has gone on for longer than humanely tolerable.

FWIW I don't think the UK should become involved other than sanctions and offering refuge to those fleeing this monster. It is up to the African countries to deal with this. Then there can be no fingers pointing towards "colonialism."

Sorry about spelling by the by I'm eating my lunch - priorities.
