Every instinct in me shouts that this is bound to help both ICU patients and ICU staff.

So lovely to read a positive story in the news.

Holly, 29, a patient at King's College Hospital on the new rooftop specialist care unit

'I forgot what it's like to be outside': Intensive care ward opens on rooftop

The outdoor ward, at King's College Hospital in London, will monitor how much it boosts the recovery of seriously ill patients.

This is wonderful. My dm has been in hospital for 5 weeks (not ICU but she’s been very poorly) and I’m absolutely certain that being outside would have helped her recovery.

It's a lovely idea in theory but really, think of the command, control and logistics.

It works as paliative care but goodness me, I don't want to be stuck on a windy rooftop should I take a turn for the worse. Maybe they only take them up there for a bit of a breather and take'em back down again later.

Perhaps I've misunderstood the article but open air critical care on a rooftop with heavy traffic going around is generally known to the unwashed masses as, "Refugee Camp" or, "Warzone Situation."

I do not expect to be holding down my heart monitor with one foot against the stiff Thames Estuary breeze whilst my immunocompromised self gets hayfever from Happy Clappy'sflowery things and carries me off, once and for all.

Apart from that. It's great.

How lovely. Being in nature, is so precious to me. I hope that it helps the patients.

Open air hospitals , sanatoriums and convalescent hospitals were once quite common before the advent of antibiotics to treat conditions like TB.
