Isn’t this crazy? I don’t understand how it isn’t even going to trial. She had no interest in guns. They’d argued about politics. It’s so depressing. I wonder if her being British and anti-Trump were factors in there being no trial.

British woman shot by dad in Texas was unlawfully killed, UK coroner rules

Lucy Harrison had earlier argued with her father about Donald Trump, an inquest into her death heard.

I read that story yesterday and thought surely not but yes he walked free after a grand jury refused to indict him. This is Trumps America where his supporters do what they like and only Democrats face consequences. Gun toting Texas too. I am amazed the rest of the family have anything to do with him. US is lost until they get rid of Trump.

Trump supporters are becoming a cult. To murder your own daughter because of him?

I saw this story on instagram and frankly I’ve been shocked to see how the USA is slowly becoming a fascist country, ICE agents have complete immunity to do what they like. It’s is awful. I don’t know why more is not being said on the news about this.

I hate Trump and everything he stands for, but America has been like this for a long time. Years ago, before Trump ever thought of running for president, a British tourist who got lost in Florida was shot dead when he approached a house to ask for directions. The home owner was not convicted of any offences. This is not a solitary incident.

The argument about Trump and the shooting appear to be separate events. The father says the shooting was an accident. The grand jury, in a state which has some of the most permissive gun laws in the US and where gun ownership and support for gun ownership is high, decided there was insufficient evidence to prove it wasn't an accident.

If this had happened in the UK, I think the father's own description of events is sufficient to support a manslaughter charge. In the US, however, supporters of gun ownership are more likely to regard this as an unfortunate accident.

Only just read about this - absolutely insane and outrageous!! How can he have just zero
consequences for clear and obvious murder?? That poor young woman - her whole life ahead of her.

@prh47bridge I agree what you’re saying and people can have rose tinted glasses about how the USA was before Trump. I don’t think things would have gone differently were he not president. I was just bringing up Trump as it’s a possible motive for how things might have been heated between them. Also it’s something that might have influenced the grand jury in deciding whether there was a case as there are more Trump supporters in that area than not.

What I don’t understand is why people who are into gun ownership in the USA don’t seem to support any responsibility for the gun owner. Why isn’t there a charge for reckless control of a firearm? You should never have the barrel pointed at a person whether loaded or not. My uncle and cousin live in a rural area and are really into shooting. My cousin had a gun from quite a young age. I remember making a joke about pointing it at someone and his face went so serious. Under no circumstances was he allowed to point it at someone whether loaded or not, otherwise the gun would be taken off him.

Yet if you take this man’s word which I’m suspicious of he must have had the gun pointed at her for it to go off accidentally or otherwise and so was being reckless, but that’s just fine?
