oh good grief!

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 13/06/2008 09:30

My seven year old DD isn't even allowed a heel, let alone when she was a baby.
Silly, silly, silly.

jumpingbeans · 13/06/2008 09:31

Some stupid cow will buy them

CatIsSleepy · 13/06/2008 09:32

I don't think the fact that the heel isn't real makes any difference really
it's the whole concept of a baby looking like she's wearing heels that's horrible

Botbot · 13/06/2008 09:32

They remind me of Miss Piggy.

ChicaLovesBranstonPickle · 13/06/2008 09:33

Horrible.

Beelliesebub · 13/06/2008 09:33

My first reaction was "Vile, I don't think I've ever seen anything so horrible in my whole life, they'll be bringing in matching boob tubes and satin skirts next!"
and my second reaction was " They're gonna have a field day with this on Mumsnet"

VictorianSqualor · 13/06/2008 09:34

The worst thing is I know someone who will say 'Oh, I wish they'd had them when XXXX was a baby'.

fizzledizzle · 13/06/2008 09:35

are they having a laugh!!

ivykaty44 · 13/06/2008 09:45

www.crawlies.ca/healthyfootdevelopment.html

Please for the first year don't put your baby in shoes. Foot manipulation is really easy into the most hideous shaped feet - that you can't take of and discard

FAQ · 13/06/2008 10:04

hmm not sure you can say a blanket "for the first year" - is you have a DC that is walking competently at 10/11 months.........

SheikYerbouti · 13/06/2008 10:06

I bet the woman from the fake babies documentary who washed her pram wheels (the one who looked like Big Bird) would buy them,

frootloop · 13/06/2008 10:47

good god! whatever next, thong nappies?

jumpingbeans · 13/06/2008 10:50

oy, i used to wash my pram wheels

VictorianSqualor · 13/06/2008 10:52

But you had a baby in your pram did you not jumpingbeans?
I often clean my buggy wheels, I'm not going to bring it in my house dirty am I?

They're not even nice (disclaimer: I'd rather eat my placenta than put dd in heels before she's 21). They look like drag queen shoes.

Good point FAQ. I can't wait for the matching clothes.

ladytophamhatt · 13/06/2008 11:20

I once stood ranting in a shoe sho about trainers for babies. These trainers were prem baby size.

I just couldn't believe my eyes, it was ridiculous.

If I saw these in RL I think I'd probably explode/implode....

How uttterly replusive.

InLoveWithSweeneyTodd · 13/06/2008 11:20

But who comes up with these things?
All that energy and money wasted into producing this kind of crap.

orangehead · 13/06/2008 11:24

So wrong and worrying

OsmosisBanana · 13/06/2008 11:30

holy shiz!

BandofMothers · 13/06/2008 11:36

ivykate, the heel isn't real and can't be walked on so will not damage the growth of feet and damage hips, which yes, is what heels does when worn too young, though I agree it is an awful idea, and not funny at all.
It is the boots with heels for 3, 4 and 5 yo's that do the damage that you are worried about, or stupid heeled "cloppy" shoes as dd1 calls them.

ivykaty44 · 13/06/2008 11:44

no I realise the heel isn't real it is the shoe that will act like traction on the soft bones of the feet of a baby - they are soft and they are so easy to manipulate. Then when the child starts walking the bones will again adjust unaturaly.

Probablty the child will always be given silly shoes to wear and the problems will get worse. Knee and back problems can also be caused from feet manipulation as the foot walks incorrectly as it has been misformed by traction the body further up will be swayed out of line and slowly change, causing problems.

Unfortunately this is so easy to do.

hayley2u · 13/06/2008 11:47

ha ha how funny hee hee, wonder if well see any babies with them on in the future lol

BandofMothers · 13/06/2008 11:48

So what should you put on a 9 mth old that walks then??

Not being argumentative here, but just wondering.

ivykaty44 · 13/06/2008 11:56

At nine months keep them in bare feet if possible for walking and for as long as possible, (this is easier in the summer months but not the winter) this isn't though always possible. Get as soft leather as you can for the shoes, the softer the better and get them as good a fit as you possible can. The keep checking them every months for growth, change as soon as needed. If you can get soft suede even better.

Clarkes or startright are not better than one another it really will depend on your own childs feet, go to a proper shoe shop and get an experiance fitter. Avoid where possible top seams running across the front of the shoe - if the shoe is plain it is better as seams can cause there own seperate problems!! Seams though not patterned holes in the shoe.
