my dd1 is 4 and she is 2st 4lb but only just recently has she put on that last 4lb she was stuck at 2st for ages. dd1 weighs 1st8 and is 12 months.
with dd1 i was advised to feed her chips, sausages, eggs, creamcakes etc. which surprised me i thought that given that she was only a child i would have been advised on a more healthy way for her to gain weight.
i try an d make sure that they both eat a healthy diet, although i was told at 6 months that dd2 was at risk of having a weight problem and i should 'cut back on her food' she was 6 months old ffs. she was eating a healthy balanced diet inc lots of friut veg and dairy. i ignored the advise and it turned out that she was just having a growth spurt.
both kids eat pretty much the same things now and chips are on the menu but only as part of a balanced diet. no food is 'bad' in the house, but dd1 is aware that there are foods that you shouldnt eat too much of.
the child in the pic didnt look that big but according to the article weighs almost as much as my four year old.
and i dont get why the mother cant feed anything but chips. leave them out for a while, she will get hungry and she will eat other things. i dont think either of my kids have ever had a full portion of chips tbh although im sure dd2 would give it a good go given the opportunity. they may have a few chips with some peas or a bit of salad if they were having fish fingers or burger or something. but they are never given just chips alone. i dont see why any mother would think that was an okay diet for an 18 month old.
dd1 goes through phases with her foods. atm she is eating pretty much anything that is offered to her but not long ago it was cheesy pasta or nothing every lunch and dinner time, before that homemade burgers, and before that pancakes, but due to the fact that she is underweight i just let her get on with and try and hide other foods in there.
but i would dream lof giving dd2 such a limited diet.
