Nanoplastics

So a relative called me and said, 'Have you heard about nanoplastics?' Well I've been living under a rock for the last year so no I hadn't but when I googled.. is there any point in living anymore... everything is bad for us.. bottled water (my weekly shop as our tap water is awful) is off, plastic kettles off, even tap water has plastic in it.

So now looking at ways to avoid nanoplastics - if at all/where possible.

Anyone else?

You can't. Sorry! Tap water contains hundreds of times less plastic than bottled. Try leaving it in a jug (not plastic) in the fridge overnight, see if it tastes better next day.

Root veg contain more plastic than leaves. I don't know about grains or pulses, etc, but I'm sure you can get extensive information from Google.

Use a metal kettle, replace your plastic containers with glass or pottery, don't use non-stick pans. Wear only natural fibres. Don't use laundry products or facial cleansers with 'micro beads'. Use soap instead of shower gel, try to reduce your dependence on products in plastic packaging. Watch out for things like shower puffs and microfibre cloths - use cotton or linen instead.

FWIW, I used to do all this but have cheerfully accepted being made of plastic in my later years 😏 It isn't possible to avoid all plastics because they're in pretty much everything now, but you can certainly cut your exposure .
