More on that here

I remember when this case was first reported and it never made sense. This is a gruesome thing to say, but if a car hits a person at 60mph there will be obvious physical damage. How can a baby's head be slammed against a bannister at 60mph, with no external damage to the baby's head and no traces left on the bannister?

I am really upset that this woman was convicted by a jury, "beyond reasonable doubt"

Well it was another one of those cases where she has no history of abusing children, nobody saw her do it and the child has a medical condition which could also explain their having sudden brain damage
Obviously we don't know what happened, but as you say, 'beyond reasonable doubt' seems a bit unlikely.

It is as though there is no real presumption of innocence without evidence to suggest guilt. I can't believe these cases even got to court, let alone resulted in convictions.

They may well make it much more difficult for the parents of children with SN to get babysitters/childcare. Because the risk of being accused and then convicted if something goes wrong seem so high. And it can be next to impossible to prove you did not do something.
