Couldn't see any other threads about this. Wonder what everyone's thoughts are.

There will be more early prison releases as prison release at the half way point of a sentence will now be moved to release at 40%. This is for certain offences only.

I have recently read this article from 2014 (www.designcurial.com/news/jail-breaker-4403655):

"Since 2010, a slew of run-down British prisons have been declared 'surplus to requirements' according to the Ministry of Justice, in part to reduce the prison budget by £30m a year and in part to make way for a contentious new 'super prison' (due to open by late 2017). This modern 2000-capacity prison will be built in Wrexham, North Wales, and a second large prison is planned for the southeast of England. "

The article says more than a dozen closed between 2010 and 2014. I can see HMP Berwyn did indeed open in 2017, but I don't think a second happened in the end.

Concerning who could be released!
I have heard some from the grooming gangs that targeted young girls are to be released. It's not surprising when Kier Starmer had a top job in the police when all that was going on and did nothing about it!!!

It is scary. There isn't the structure in place to manage these people who will be let out early.

There needs to be more funding within the probation service and local authorities for housing these people upon their release. There isn't enough support to manage them within the community which sets alot of up to fail and then they get recalled. They also need to completely overhaul the probation service to enable these people to try to readjust to normal life. Alot of them are put under so many restrictions, it's hard for them to integrate into society again. It's not as simple as building prisons or releasing people.
