Well I know it's stating the obvious, but it's good that this has been stated publicly by doctors at Alder Hey hospital (don't know how to do the link - sorry!). There is so much known about the effects of smoking - I mean, putting 'Smoking Kills' on fag packets is pretty point blank- but the effects on children has never been given the high profile it should.

well i smoke, but not in front of my kids ever,i always go outside

Big news.

The effects of passive smoking HAVE been fairly highly publicised. I suppose that covers kids too.

I don't believe that smokers are so stupid taht they do ot realise that their habit is damaging their kids to a degree.

My SIL, who has a law degree, so isn't completely stupid insists her heavy smoking in the house (with windows closed) has no effect on her DD's astma, and is no contributor to her frequent chest infections.

What will it take to get through to some people?

The report also states that a lot of parents lie about the fact that they smoke in front of their children. So clearly they do realise it's a brainless thing to do.

it's obvious that passive smokinf affects everyone....including children....i stopped smoking 6 months ago....and even though i wasnt a heavy smoker, the main reason i stopped smoking was for my kids sake

Actually passive smoking is much much worse than active smoking in some respects, as the smoker inhales the rubbish thru a filter, the passive smoker gets all of hte particulates that end up in teh air.

All smoking outside is obv miles better than smoking with a child on your lap the particulates hang around on your clothes and breath for ages after a ciggy, so you will still be damaging your childs health more than if you idn't smoke at all.
