Fathers4Justice protest

Hi folks,

Don't know how true this is but am hearing that there is a F4J protest planned for Friday 17th December around the M25, M6 and M1. Apparently, from what I hear the plan is to shut these routes down with a "sit down" protest, a "go-slow" and other means of snarling these roads up.

I cannot find anything on the F4J site to corroborate this so it could just be a nasty rumour - however, it does have a ring of F4J truth about it. Sounds the sort of thing they might do.

My dear hubbie says he will "run the bastards over" if they hold him up! More likely we will just not travel that day (as we were planning to do).

Just wanted to warn anyone else in case it's true

Mandy

lol! they're going to protest by making sure the M25 is snarled up on a Friday? That'll shock people into supporting them...

Do you think we'll see Blunkett heading the protest? He's not got much else to do now.

They brought the trains into London to a crawl today by chaining selves to a gantry (whatever that is). golly being delayed an hour and a half really makes me want to support them..... not.

ReindeerNosebagAddiction · 16/12/2004 15:45

I was stuck on a train this morning into Waterloo because they'd managed to get onto the mainline between Clapham Junction and Vauxhall. OK - so I do understand their plight but I don't see how stopping commuter trains in the morning rush hour is going to win them any sympathy or support.

Ah but it is not about each individual case. Fathers4Justice have been very clever in some ways to actually raise the profile of their cause. This time last year no-one would have debated the status of men/child contact after a divorce.

I may not agree with their methods, but it has brought thier fight to the front pages, where in this world you need to be to get anywhere it seems.

I think it is quite funny that our major road in the south of this country could so easily be brought to a standstill. All you need is 4 vehicles coming to a halt across the carriageway in about 3 or 4 places on the M25 and it would all gridlock. That and 2 tonnes of jam!!

Is any publicity really good publicity?

Why, Wig? What were the judges' reasons?

I would have thought that most men would join F4J after suffering a sense of injustice, rather than before the judge had made a ruling?

Blimey. Most of these estranged dads make a private nuisance of themselves big time, and no-one cares. Make a public nuisance and a judge will be down on you like a ton of bricks. Makes you wonder if their tactics are actually very effective in terms of how the courts behave. I think they've been extremely effective in terms of media coverage and how the general public sees the issues, but that's not translating to a court context, at least in this instance. I wonder if that issue of being bullied because of Dad's antics is a common one.

Hmm... the judge's trade union at work!

Shows the danger of pushing the boundaries I guess. A bit like the sound of this M25 protest. People like reading about exploits, but they don't like being inconvenienced by them.
