Not a surprise to most I wouldn't have thought but how much has this inquiry cost us to find out that this man was deliberately misleading MP's? What does this actually mean? Will all the people recently gaining peerages have to give them back as he is a liar and they almost definitely don't deserve peerages? More questions than answers.
Will it stop MP's from lying to us in future?

Can't answer your question about costs, although we know that Johnson's legal costs were covered by the taxpayer and came to £245k. It isn't clear why this happened, and it is possible he will be told to pay this back.

I think I have heard some Labour politicians calling for the honours to be removed. It is possible this could happen but highly unlikely. They have been vetted, offered honours and accepted them, and the honours have been announced. They can be removed from them if they have done something wrong, but it is unlikely they will be removed just because Boris did.

Politicians don't lie as much as many people think. It doesn't help that politicians from opposing parties and segments of the press will twist people's words or take them out of context to accuse them of lying. And, of course, there is a difference between lying and making a statement you believe to be true at the time, but which turns out to be wrong. However, putting all that to one side, this was all about Boris lying to parliament. Given that we are a parliamentary democracy, it is important that ministers tell the truth to parliament and that, if they find they have made an incorrect statement, they correct themselves. This will, hopefully, remind politicians of that. It won't stop the more unscrupulous lying to the public to try and get votes.

I'm not hopeful. There has been far too much self serving and the fact that many of them have second jobs that they are very slow to declare doesn't help matters. Also the job of an elected politician should be their one and only job. If you want to retain professional status in another career then stay in that career instead.
