Anyone see it?

Ds and I went down to the bottom of the garden, beautiful clear night and saw it go over for about a minute. Very exciting. Is the shuttle tomorrow but don't know what the weather is like

find your nearest big town \linkspaceflight1.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/cities/region.cgi?country=United_Kingdom&region =England\Here} for info and times tc

We'll be out looking too.
Also, did you see in the newspaper, they are going to throw some paper aeroplanes out to see where (if) they land. I cut it out for DS, and he is just desperate to find one.

bump for space watchers

More info on what to look for:-
Appearing as a pair of very "bright 'stars," the ISS should appear as the somewhat brighter object and will appear to be leading Shuttle Atlantis as they move across
the sky. A large telescope would be needed to make out details of the sprawling station. Traveling in their respective orbits at approximately 18,000 mph (29,000 kilometers per hour), both should be visible from about one to four minutes (depending on the particular viewing pass) as they glide with a steady speed across the sky.

Because of its size and configuration of highly reflective solar panels, the Space Station is now, by far, the brightest man-made object currently in orbit around the Earth.

GrinningSoul · 13/02/2008 18:06

yay we saw it thanks for pointing it out!

wheresthehamster · 13/02/2008 18:07

We've just looked out but didn't see anything. Quite cloudy though

Whizzz · 13/02/2008 18:09

We saw it ! A very bright dot seemed to be moving fairly slowly really. Bang on time too !

madamy · 13/02/2008 18:13

we saw it too! A bright star/dot, i thought it moved fairly quickly - faster than a plane at night lol!

hunofmonsters · 13/02/2008 18:20

literally JUST missed todays time! Will look tomo....have set an alarm

TY for this!

hunofmonsters · 13/02/2008 18:20

altho, how do you know where to look? what does it all mean??

Whizzz · 13/02/2008 18:23

It gives you the direction to look with the times. If you haven't got a compass you can work it out from where the sun rises (east)/sets (west)

Merlin · 13/02/2008 18:40

ooh how exciting - DS1 will love this - will report back if we spot anything!!!!

Thanks.

Furball · 13/02/2008 18:41

hunofmonster - theres another along in just under an hour!!!! but only for 1 min -
